Drawing Fred Flintstones
Graphics by Manuelhooks...Fred Flintstones
Yabba Dabba Doo!
His name is Frederick Joseph Flintstone, I saw it pop up in the credits. We knew him as Fred Flintstone. The husband of Wilma, leaving at 300 Cobblestone Lane. I noticed Fred had a short temper, but he also has a big heart. If you should pay attention, you will notice he is always scheming to get rich quickly, I may be wrong though bot it is this get rich tendency that often gets him into trouble.
When he ends up in trouble, I noticed his wife, Wilma is always there to drag him out, saving him from himself. Wilma and Fred have a kid named Pebbles. They are living close to Barney and Betty Rubble.
The show's setting looks like a mixed-up timeline, I feel some of the things should not be together. For example. Fred is depicted as a caveman dressed in animal skin, living alongside dinosaurs, but he goes to work and uses modern inventions like cars and a brontosaurus crane. It's always about a caveman with modern problems and stone-age solutions.
I still wonder how I processed the wooden-foot-powered car. How I enjoyed the function even when the physics made no sense at all. That notwithstanding, I sometimes sat on a bench, stick my feet out while sitting down and pretended I was Fred driving.
"Yabba Dabba Doo!”.
That was all the motivation Fred needed to overcome any challenge he faced, it was like his war cry, his version of yala! yahla!!
Fred taught a whole generation that problems don’t always need a perfect tech. Sometimes they just need stubbornness, a catchphrase and a real Wilma dragging you out of the mess.
Today, I will be drawing Fred, an example of positive stubbornness.

| Drawing Procedure |

Step 1 [Preparing the Canvas]
After making up my mind, I got my A4 paper ready, signed it with today's date being 25 June 2026 and my username. I will still be using the landscape orientation.
Step 2 [Sketching and Structure]
For a guide, I started drawing Fred with a simple sketch. It will serve as a framework and will also help scale the drawing to match the A4 paper I am using.
Starting with Fred’s right hand, I added some details to the sketch. I had to remove some of the sketch lines as I drew more permanent lines.
At this point, I added some of his facial features, his big nose and eyes.
I added his tie and clearly defined his leopard-print tunic. Gave it those worn-out fringes that tell you this is Fred Flintstones.
At this point, his facial features are more pronounced. More importantly is his big toes that stands out.
I added more details to his face, his characteristic haircut with some strands that always stood up. Strong jawline as if carved our of stone with a blunt butter knife.

Fred Flintstones is now ready for shading and colouring.
Step 3 [Shading and colouring]
Shading started with grey in its different shades. I applied it to his hair, mouth and parts of his clothes.
His tie took the blue and some shades of black.
It was closely followed by tiger orange for his clothes. His skin is yellow and carries a different shade around his mouth.
Step 4 [Finishing]
This looks more like Fred Flintstones, the full package with the attitude..
It's time to take a selfie

Conclusion and Invitation
The Cartoons were mixed up but it was among the things that sparked creativity in me. It would be a good idea to select what we allow our kids to consume.
I am inviting @bubaa, @asuquodavid, @annydee01 and @josepha to drop a comment.
