The peace within

hello everyone this is my little nephew here and I guess he is just as excited as I am as am about to get into this new art work.

Today, I want to take you behind the scenes of my creative process with a pen and share a glimpse into how I spent my day. yesterday it was with a pencil and today am using a pen. As an artists, we often present the polished final piece, but there is so much beauty in the journey. The setup, the slow progress, and the moments of connection that you develop with each piece.

Every great project starts with the right tools, but you don’t always need expensive art supplies to create something powerful. I began by gathering my favorite pen ballpoint pens from BIC and some colors that I'll be using greens to classic blues, blacks, yellow and reds. Not forgetting my needle point paper too, these fine instruments are all I need to bring an idea to life.

There’s something remarkably satisfying about taking simple office pens and few colors and pushing them to their artistic limits that you never thought it would be possible.

Once my tools were in place, I laid down the paper and got to work. I started with a light graphite grid to keep my proportions accurate before using the ink. You can see the early stages here.

Everything began to take shape, the vibrant yellow butterfly near the lips, and my trusty tissue paper was just nearby to wipe away excess ink and prevent smudges.

The afternoon was all about patience and precision because Ballpoint pen art leaves no room for big mistakes else you might need to start over again so layer by layer, I cross-hatched, scribbled and shaded to build deep purple and blue tones. As everything began to take shape made every seconds, minutes and hours of intense concentration worth it.

It’s a meditative process that completely engulfs your focus and you just have to fall in love with it. Though I couldn't finish it in one day but I'll be dropping the finished piece in my next post please watch out.

After spending hours at the drawing board, I wrapped up the session by hanging out with my little nephew here again.

Taking a step back to observe my work and share the creative energy, teach him some few things, and celebrate the day's effort with a double thumbs-up. There's still much to be done but we just have to celebrate little wins first.
