SLC32-W1 || Real Life Problem Solving Challenge: Save Electricity At Home
Assalamu Alaikum!
How are all my Steemit friends? I hope everyone is fine by the grace of Allah. I am fine too, thank God.
I am happy to participate in the 1st week of Steemit Challenge Season 32. I am very thankful to @ahsansharif for giving this opportunity to us.
01.What are two electrical appliances in your home that use a lot of electricity? Explain with original pictures?
(a) Electric Iron

This electric iron consumes a lot of current. Of all the electrical appliances we use, such as fans, bulbs, washing machines, sewing machines, juicers, irons consume more current than all of them, which causes more units to be consumed and the bill to be higher, which is harmful to the economy. Whenever we use an iron, we should put all the clothes together and run it at once, not by doing one suit and then doing the second suit after two hours, then the third suit after three hours, in this way more units will be consumed.
An iron is a household electrical appliance that is used to remove wrinkles from clothes and make them smooth and clean. And it is called a clothes iron. In ancient times, people used hot stones, round pieces of metal or metal boxes filled with hot coals as irons. And it was called a side iron. In 1882, the American Henry Seeley invented the first electric iron.
Today, steam irons, cordless and automatic short-off irons are common. Among the important parts of the iron is the sole plate, which is the lower plate that heats up and touches the clothes. It is usually non-stick or coated at the end. The button that is used to increase or decrease the heat is called a thermostat. Some clothes are labeled that these clothes should be ironed at such a temperature and always let the iron stand upright and heat up and if the indicator light is off, the iron is full of heat. After use, unplug it and let it cool down and store the iron.
( b)Washing Machine
A washing machine is an electrical household appliance that automatically washes clothes, applies detergent, and drains water. It is called a washing machine or washer. Just as an iron uses more electricity, this washing machine also uses more electricity, which results in more units of electricity being consumed and the bill is also higher. Just as these electrical appliances have advantages, they also have some disadvantages because when they are used more and consume more electricity, there is a risk of the bill increasing more. And thus it becomes a greater burden on families.
There are a few types of washing machines, including semi-automatic, fully automatic, top load, and front load. These are some of its types. And some parts of the washing machine include drum motor, pump, control panel, and filter, etc. The way to use it is that we should not mix colored clothes with white clothes because colored clothes release color and it gets on white clothes. And when we put the clothes in the machine, check its pockets, etc., remove coins, pins, tissues, or else the drum may be damaged.
When the power is on, we should wait for five minutes and then plug it in again, as there is a risk of damage to the machine due to voltage fluctuations. The washing machine saves time and effort, washes clothes more thoroughly and evenly, and also saves the person from cold water in winter.
The washing machine is a necessity of a modern home. With a little care, this machine can last for eight to ten years.
02.What two methods do you use to reduce electricity consumption? Show at least one practical method with a selfie.
👉To Turn Off The Bulbs After Morning 💡

When it is morning, I always wake up early in the morning because I have to go for a morning walk after praying Fajr and reciting the Holy Quran. So when I wake up in the morning, when the darkness is over and the light is shining, I turn off all the lights in my house and open the windows and doors of my house so that natural light and air can enter our rooms. The aim is that we use natural light and use less bulbs and fans. When the windows and doors of our rooms are open, air and light from outside will be able to reach the rooms easily and we will not need to run bulbs and fans with electricity. Similarly, if we work keeping small things in mind, we will save a lot.
This not only helps us conserve our electricity, but it also makes our environment feel much fresher.
👉 Each And every Time Switch And Button Check Of My House

I keep checking the bulbs, fans and lights of my house all the time so that no extra electricity is consumed and all kinds of waste can be avoided. This is a new habit of mine. When I leave my house, I turn off all the lights, fans and even the chargers. This small habit of mine can save me from spending a lot of electricity. The mobile chargers and TV switches in our house use a very small amount of electricity. But still, if we take care of these small things, we can save a lot of electricity in our house and also avoid high bills. I have started this work since I was about 12 years old and my parents appreciate me a lot because of this work of mine and this habit was instilled in me by my school teachers.
03.Have the two methods you use to reduce electricity consumption resulted in a reduction in your electricity bill or not? Explain.
Yes, of course, when I made these small savings, my electricity bill was much lower than before because we never considered electricity usage before. Even during the day, bulbs and fans would run unnecessarily. The rooms were empty but the fans would run and the mobile chargers would be plugged in but the mobile would be fully charged. And when we slept at night, our hair would be shining without any need. But when I adopted these habits, all these small things saved electricity and when the electricity bill came at the end of the month, I had saved a lot and the electricity bill was also reduced a lot.
And I would like to say that these small habits bring big changes and if we start doing these small habits regularly, we can avoid a lot of losses.
04.What is the easiest habit for you to save electricity?
"Turn Off the lights and fans when leaving the house or when rooms are empty".
This is a very simple task that people usually get carried away with because people are careless and do not take responsibility, but instead of doing it themselves, they always leave everything to others, saying that they will do it. But in my opinion, the easiest task is to turn off the extra lights, fans, and extra charges in our homes that we always keep in our switches. If we keep these in mind regularly, then there is no easier task than this. There is no benefit to anyone in this, rather, all the benefit is our own. When we make this a habit, we will never forget it. And by adopting these small habits every day, we will save ourselves from a huge loss because our country already has a lot of load shedding and inflation is also very high, due to which it is very difficult for us to pay the electricity bills. And if we adopt these small habits and take responsibility, we can save ourselves from all the things that are harmful to us.
05.What advice would you give to others to save electricity so that they can reduce their electricity bill and save money?
I will always advise others to follow these small things and not to keep extra bulbs, fans and chargers in their homes regularly, but to switch them off when needed. I think this is not a personal benefit, but rather a social responsibility. If we use minimum electricity, not only will our bills be reduced, but our country's energy will also be saved from being wasted, and the pressure of load shedding on our country will also be reduced to a great extent. If we adopt these habits regularly and on a daily basis, we will reduce our bills a lot more than before.
I would like to give some simple but important advice for others .
* Turn Off unnecessary lights and fans
* Use natural light during the day
* Use LED bulbs
* Do not leaving mobile chargers plugged in unnecessarily
*Use AC and Refrigerator consciously
This is the end of my the post and I would like to invite my friends @emmywind , @dequeen and @mirisman.
