1 Picture 1 Story Week #103
Hello my friends,
This is my participation in the competition”1 Picture 1 Story Week #103 organized by @suboohi in Steem For Pakistan
[THIS PICTURE IS CREATED WITH META]
That morning, 27-year-old Flight Commander Anurag was very happy. He was returning to his hometown, Dehradun, taking a long leave from his Air Force duties. He was so excited that the journey felt incredibly long.
He loved his best friend, Reshma, very much, and he was sure that Reshma loved him too. They had never openly expressed their love for each other, yet their friendship was deep and unbreakable.
Anurag had decided that this time he would confess his love to Reshma and propose marriage. Lost in these thoughts, he didn't even realize when he had arrived in Dehradun.
Upon arriving, he went straight to Reshma's house. Seeing him unexpectedly, Reshma cried out in joy and ran to hug him.
Anurag was also very happy. After hugging for a while, they inquired about each other's well-being, and then Anurag said to Reshma, "I have something to tell you."
Reshma replied, "No, first I have something to tell you, then you can say what you want."
Anurag's heart leaped with joy; he understood that Reshma was also going to confess her love for him.
But then Reshma said, "I want to marry Vivek."
Hearing this, Anurag felt as if he had fallen from the sky. Still, controlling his emotions, he said to her, "Don't joke with me."
Reshma replied, "I'm not joking. After your posting, I met Vivek at a function, and I've truly fallen in love with him. He's a very wealthy man, and also very kind-hearted. I've even told him that you're my friend and that you'll give me permission to marry him; I'll introduce you to him tomorrow."
Anurag's dreams were shattered, all his happiness vanished. Yet, controlling his inner emotions, he said, "Yes, why not? We'll meet your Vivek tomorrow."
And then Anurag went home. His parents saw him looking very sad. He thought that perhaps he was tired from the long journey.
The next day, Reshma introduced him to Vivek. Indeed, Vivek was very handsome, kind-hearted, and very wealthy. Poor Anurag, with a heavy heart, gave them his blessing for the marriage and returned home heartbroken.
He lied to his father, saying that his leave had been canceled and that he was going back. And he returned to his duty.
Within a few days, Reshma and Vivek were married. Anurag now worked like a madman.

Anurag decided not to get married, and about three years passed. One day, he met a friend of Reshma's, who told him that Reshma had been betrayed by her husband; he was already married, and because of this heartbreak, Reshma had gone mad and was now admitted to a mental asylum.
Anurag felt as if someone had punched him in the heart. That same day, he took leave from his duty and went to the asylum to see Reshma.
Reshma was looking at him with vacant eyes, as if he were a stranger. Seeing Reshma in this condition, Anurag's heart broke. He became sad, and tears welled up in his eyes.
I also want to invite here @cruzamilcar63 @solperez and @sadaf02
With lots of love and respect,

Your story is deeply touching and very heartbreaking. The way Anurag’s silent love, patience and sacrifice are portrayed makes the narrative very powerful and emotional.
Well life can be cruel at times. Your story reflects the reality beautifully. The pain of unspoken love and destiny gone wrong is shown in a very natural and engaging way. This is a wonderful and meaningful participation.
