EID-AL ADHA(FESTIVAL OF SACRIFICE)
The word Eid is an Arabic word which means festival or feast.There two Eids celebrated by Muslims all over the globe.The Eid-Fitr and Eid-Adha.In this short article I will be discussing the little I know about Eid-Adha which means Festival of sacrifice.

Eid-ul Adha is known to be the holier of the two.Eid-ul Adha does not have a specific date.The dates change every blessed year since it has to do with the citing of the moon.
Eid-ul Adha denotes the obedience of Abraham to the call of his Lord to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of worship.Prophet Abraham called upon his beloved son Ishmael and explained to him God’s command.Prophet Ishmael accepted for his father to use his father to sacrifice him.However, when Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son Ismael God sent him a ram instead to be sacrificed.
It’s falls on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijja of the lunar calendar.It last for three days.

Because Prophet Ibrahim sacrificed a ram muslims all over the world on this day do same.It is not compulsory though it’s only those who are well to to do. Animals that can be used for the sacrifice include ram,camel,goat,cow and some other animals.Muslims go for a communal prayer prayer early in the morning,give to charity and visiting their family members.
In mecca Muslims perform their worship in the Ka’ba which is believed to have been constructed by Ibrahim and Ishmael.And its also known as the center of the earth.
