Assalamu Alaikum. I hope everyone is healthy and well by the grace of Allah; Alhamdulillah, I am also doing well. Today, I am participating in a contest hosted by @shahidalinaz. The theme is childhood, and I will share memories of my own childhood here. I hope you all enjoy it—so, let’s get started.

  • Here is a description of the people I spent my childhood with and how I spent those days:

I am a very cherished daughter to my parents. I was born ten years after my parents' marriage, so I was—and still am—deeply loved and pampered. I have a vivid memory from when I was seven years old. Since I was the only child at home, my parents showered me with affection and care, often taking me along wherever they went. One specific memory stands out clearly: every week, my father would go to the local market (haat) to shop—specifically on Wednesdays. Whenever I accompanied him on Wednesdays, I loved eating at the restaurants there. My father would regularly take me along and let me choose whatever food I liked—dishes like jilapi, rice with meat, or khichuri. It is worth mentioning that my father was not wealthy; we were a middle-class family. Yet, he never let me feel any sense of deprivation and always fulfilled my wishes whenever I wanted something specific to eat. In our area, it wasn't common for girls to be taken to the market, but since I had no brothers, my father treated me as both a son and a daughter. He didn't care what people said and would take me along anyway. Going to the market with him meant enjoying various foods—jilapi, rice with meat, khichuri, and more. Another interesting thing is...My father would frequently bring home large fish and kilograms of meat. I was only seven years old at the time—quite small. Once, my father bought a huge Pangas fish and handed it to me. It was very heavy, and I struggled to hold it. This happened about twenty years ago, when there was hardly any traffic on the roads. After handing me the fish, my father stayed back at the market to buy other things and told me to head home. I obeyed him and started walking home with the fish. Suddenly, the fish gave a little leap and slipped into the nearby river. Being so small, I hadn't been able to hold onto it securely given its weight. I cried bitterly when the fish fell into the river. My father immediately ran over to me and tried to comfort me. These memories from my childhood bring me great joy.

I also found happiness with my young friends. There was a small river near our house where we used to get ready to fish; whenever it rained, the fish would surface, and we would catch them one by one. My mother would be delighted when I brought them home. Whenever I think about those times, one thought keeps coming back to me: if only I could be a child again and live with my parents—my life would be truly blessed. That is why I can never forget my childhood; it was filled with happiness shared with my father. He loved me dearly then and still does. To me, my childhood is synonymous with my father. I love you, Baba.

So, friends, that was a short story about my childhood. I’ve shared the moments and times I spent with my father, and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Thank you

Beautiful and heartwarming childhood memory! The bond you shared with your father is truly special. I especially enjoyed the story of the huge Pangas fish slipping into the river—it must have been heartbreaking for you at that age, but now it has become such a precious memory. The weekly market visits, enjoying your favorite foods, and fishing with friends all make your childhood story feel so warm and genuine.
The line “my childhood is synonymous with my father” is especially touching. May Allah always keep your father happy, healthy, and close to you. Childhood really is a beautiful chapter that we can never forget.
