On the 2nd of April, witnesses round the world gathered to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ. As Christians, this is an important event for us as it was a direct command that we should remember Jesus' death because of what his death means for us.

Remembering his death is a direct way of showing that we appreciate what he did for us. So on that day by 7:30pm, my family and I stepped out to make that night a memorable one because it was an event after sundown and luckily for me, I was able to capture sundown when the sun was actually going down.

I dressed in my blue suit and white shirt and stepped out into the night to observe this memorial. I invited my friends, and a few of them joined virtually because of their inability to be present, physically. The event started with a song and prayer. After the prayer was said, the event commenced.

A series of questions were answered as to what jesus death means for us, how we can show appreciation for what he did for us, what we stand to benefit, who and who are to partake of the bread and the wine and the observance before closure.

The question Who and who are partake of the bread and the wine strikes a thought-provoking question. Some people say if you're cleansed, baptised or forgiven of your sins, you're worthy to partake of the emblem.

Well, scripturally, that has been proven false because Jesus instituted this evening meal with his disciples and apostles, but it was only his apostles he gave the bread and the wine to eat, while his other disciples didn't have that opportunity. Why? Because this signifies the new covenant he made with his disciples that they would rule with him in heaven.

Now in the Christian setting, your spirit must bear witness with God's spirit that you're chosen to be part of that new covenant which Jesus instituted. His mother Mary won't be part of that covenant because she wasn't worthy to eat of the emblem.

So does it mean Jesus' mother wasn't cleansed as people say? I would have loved to go far on this, but I'm describing how my day went and why that memorial was memorable. If you need more insights, you can check it up in this link.

After the question was answered, a prayer was given and then the bread was passed onto the congregation in which we were all observers and not partakers. No one has the right to stop you if indeed you're worthy to eat the emblems. After that, the same was done with the wine in the same manner Jesus did with his disciples and then a last question was answered before closure.

We took pictures together and hurried home because it was already late at night. That was how we observed the memorial in one part of Uyo. From the video, you'll see that there were others who attended this memorial worldwide.
