Benefits of It
• It is more comfortable after a Caesearan section or when you feel weak or tired.
• This allows the mother to take rest while feeding, most especially after delivery or during the night hours.
• It creates more bonding between mother and baby. That is when the oxytocin hormone is well activated.
Rist To Avoid
• Ensure that your baby's nose is not blocked or obstructed by your breast or bedsheet, so as the baby can breathe well while feeding.
• Always attend to your baby while breastfeeding lying down, otherwise the baby might roll and choke.
• Take away soft pillows or thick blankets around the baby, in this case, you prevent suffocation.
• If you do fall asleep easily, it is more safer to put the baby back in their own cot after feeding.
Nurse favour
| If you prefer lying down to feed your baby, adapt tge use of side-lying position, which is lying on your side and facing your baby, keep the baby's tummy facing yours, and then support your breast with your hand. |
