Hi Beautiful Steemit family I Hope you are all doing well. Today I am back with another update on my Chinese language learning journey on Duolingo. If you missed my first post about why I started learning Chinese you can check it on my profile. Today I want to show you exactly what I have been learning and how far I have come

First let me show you my consistency. I am currently on a 21 day streak out of my 30 day goal and I have been practicing every single day without missing.

The calendar shows I have been consistent from August 9 all the way through to today August 17. Duolingo even told me that today I extended my streak 4 hours earlier than average. That made me smile.
Consistency is everything. As a teacher I always tell my pupils that small daily efforts produce big results over time. My Duolingo streak is proof of that.
This week my lessons have been focused on occupations how to say different jobs and professions in Chinese. And as a teacher this section felt very personal to me

Here are some of the words and sentences I have been learning:
我是医生 (wǒ shì yī shēng) — I am a doctor

老师 (lǎo shī) Teacher

This one made me very happy. When I saw the word for teacher appear on my screen I felt proud. That is me! I am a lǎo shī!

英文 (yīng wén)— English language

This was actually a previous mistake that Duolingo brought back for me to practice again. The correct answer was English represented by the American flag image. I got it right this time

One of the most exciting parts of today's lesson was learning full conversation sentences. Look at this:
我是医生,你呢?(wǒ shì yī shēng, nǐ ne?)** — I am a doctor, what about you?

And the correct response:我是老师。(wǒ shì lǎo shī) I am a teacher.

Today I also completed 3 speaking challenges and scored 93% accuracy in just 3 minutes 48 seconds

Speaking Chinese is honestly the hardest part. The tones are very specific and getting them wrong changes the meaning completely. But Duolingo is patient with me and I keep trying

Thank you so much for reading 😍❤️❤️😍
