Nigeria Echoes of the Earth: Morning in Nasarawa.
The golden hour in Nasarawa State is achieved in another manner. I did not want to be disturbed by any sound and I went walking this morning. What I found out was not just a big piece of land but a soul, breathing life ecosystem of tradition and nature. The three photos that I have captured on my phone during my walk tell about the craft that has not undergone the changes based on generations.

The Heart of the Grove
The palm trees were very gigantic and this was what first attracted my attention. they are the ancient custodians. The former is an image of Palm Wine Tappers as they work. Their passage is rhythmical, noble silence. These gentlemen are the linkage between the earth and the glass; they know what tree is when to make its white gold. We had the impression that we were observing some sort of religious ceremony when we saw them preparing to toil in the early light, and not a job.

Nature's Bounty
When I still penetrated in the grove the odor had changed, and was not the same, the smell of the palm fronds, but some heavy, sweet odor. I slipped among a row of Mango Trees, the branches of which were bowed downward with the fruit in them. The coarse, scaly skin of the palm trees was, in contrast to the green, juicy mango canopy which was green. It reminded me how fertile the soil is here even in dry season.

Why These Are Special
This is not a professional job, it is an amateurish personal shot of the time in the hands of the photographer. They are distinctive in the sense that they represent sustenance. One frame is of that of the tappers, the other of the free bounty of the fruit-trees. It caused me to consider those silent servants of our world those who plough the soil when the rest of us are asleep. This was a walk that started as a normal walk but turned out to be a narration of the way Nasarawa breathes, creates and succeeds.
