Children growing up without learning responsibility for their actions

I think the only way for children to understand that the world does not belong to them, it is necessary that they accept responsibility for their own actions. Without this capability, they will expect other people to say "I am sorry" to them when they're the ones making the mistakes. They'll become reckless and a problem for society.

Children are growing up in a world with more wars, more crimes and more bad habits to learn from.

Just yesterday I watched as a boy threw away his soda bottle next to a drainage ditch. He looked at what he had done, looked at his hands and walked away. No one told him or encouraged him to do the right thing which was to find a garbage dump or dustbin. His bottle was small and was green plastic with a lightweight and peeling soda label. I had biscuit in hand at the time and I called the kid and told him look at me, I put the biscuit in a bin that was almost full. And I said to him this is where all the rubbish goes ok. Then he nodded and I let home go. This morning just going for a walk and I passed by the area. I didn't see the kid but as usual, someone is paid to take out the trash. It's empty and looks clean.

Maybe I'm the problem, maybe I'm too tenderhearted because I hate to see people sad or do the wrong thing. There are times when I get sad especially if I must be stricter than I really want to be just to make sure a kid is doing the right thing.

As I see the kids I am supposed to be helping, I see that they will grow into adults who will throw things away expecting other people to clean it up. What a lonely life these children are going to live, even if they are not aware of that at this time. They are not growing up to be responsible people. They are not learning to accept responsibility for their actions. If they do not learn to accept responsibility, they also do not learn to carry a burden. Who do they learn it from? From us the grownups. It's not like they're inventing these traits and good or bad habits, they're learning them from the people they see. So their bad behavior is our fault to some extent.
