Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper

Lucky Luke was truly lucky; he had the fastest horse in the West, named Jolly Jumper, and Jolly also held the record as the smartest horse in the world, a loyal companion and sidekick.

Today, I will be drawing Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper. A Cartoon characters known by those who were around in the 1980's

What is needed for today's drawing

To draw the Lucky Luke character and his horse Jolly Jumper, I will need the materials listed below for sketching, and colouring.

Drawing Procedure

Step 1 [Preparing the Canvas]

I had to get my A4 paper ready and laid down as landscape. Endorsed with my username and today's date being 29 March 2026.

Step 2 [sketching and structure]

I started the drawing by selecting a scale that will fit on my A4 paper. Drawing from Lucky Luke's head down. It is more of a rough sketch of his head and upper body.

The character now has both hands and a leg.

Jolly Jumper the horse is introduced with its head, legs and tail; more like a silhouette showing Lucky Luke sitting on Jolly's back.

At this point, I have added his hat and the horse's mane. Then the foot was erased and edited to accommodate the rider's stirrup.

Can you spot the minor additions I made at this point? There are more than six, how many can you spot out?

The sketch is now ready for some shading and colouring.

Step 3 [Shading and colouring]

I started shading the shadows and dark colour areas.

Now came yellow and red.

At this point, I added some brown and blue

Step 4 [Finishing]

It's time to take a selfie
