Happy Matriculation my baby girl @fortwis09
Just like yesterday, my baby girl is grown to the pint of matriculating into the higher institution. It felt just like a dream but it's a reality. She got admission into the Polytechnic late last year after 8 got a lecturing job in that same school. I encouraged her to study one of the courses of her choice and she chose to study science Laboratory technology. It was pleasant to us as parents since that's what she wants.
Since then, it's not been easy for her and for us as parents but the Almighty has been seeing her through. She was able to process her admission and started studies. The studies had been very stressful as it involves both theories and practicals and they also had to write down their findings after each experiment. I admire her resilience and commitment to studies.
But the official admission was yet to be done by the Polytechnic. Hence, the matriculation was fixed to take place this past Saturday, just yesterday after shifting for like 3 times due to some circumstances including the holiday.
Preparations went in on since then though it wasn't much as she already did her screening and got all her receipts ready. She collected her gown and brochure, ready for the move.
For my part, as a lecturer, we also have the congregation gown to wear. I made efforts to ensure I also collected mine and kept before the said day to avoid being disappointed. I was able to collect mine.
Then, my husband and I made a little preparation of food and drinks for those that will honour the invitation. @bossj23 design the invite banner for her

Then, on the said day, I woke up early and prepare meal. It was Jollof rice with meat. Sorry, no pictures for that as I always do. I was so consumed with the preparation and getting everything set as we the lecturers are also expected to be there before time for procession.
We had our dear friend, Amarachi who promised to come to the house, make her up and join us to the matriculation arena and she kept to her words. We got ready and left by past 10 am and got their before 10.30 am. I quickly went to my office to get my gown because I had left it there. I did other office work, visited the arene to admire the decorations. It was massive. My colleague and I took some pictures

Then I went round to search for my daughter who had gone to their department. At least I wanted to take early pictures with her before our procession. I met her after I had gone to few places searching for her since she wasn't picking up her calls. I was able to take few pictures and left her because I needed to go quickly to dress up in my rope as was almost time.

As soon as I went back to my office, everyone started rushing down since it time already and procession had started. I rushed as well, only to meet them almost going in. Thank goodness! I joined to procession and moved in. The matriculating students were first, then all the lecturers according to their ranks, the invitees and all the dignitaries, the Rector and the commissioner for tertiary institution who also represented the Governor of the state merched in as well. And immediately, the event started with the Anthems, both for the country, then for the state and finally for the school.
Opening formalities were done, there were goodwill messages from all other nearby tertiary institutions and partners. Then the students took their admission oath and they were officially admitted. That was great! More than 5000 students were admitted in various departments according to the brochure. But I know that most students were not captured because most of them are still processing their admission and some haven't paid their tuition fees.
One good thing that happened is the offer of students loan by the federal government which is interest free and repayment is 2 years after graduation and youth service, or better after the student gets a job because it is the employer that will repay the loan. I can't wait to access that loan for my child. It will really help.
In less than 3 hours, the closing remark was made by the Rector. Then the procession took place. We all did and then went for merriment. We also took pictures
From there, I went back to my office to return my gown before going back home. But the ones that will receive it had gone home already, I then kept it with my colleague and left.
I therefore congratulate my daughter in a special way for such opportunity and pray that the Almighty God Jehovah see her through this journey to the end when she will do her convocation 🎓🎓🎓🎓. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 dear baby girl @fortwis09! Keep soaring
