Pictures tell a thousand stories-Wk34": The Burial Of A Friend's Sister
Dear lovelies, I wish to tell you a sobering story of a friend's sister who died months ago and was buried just last week Friday in Akwaibom State. Yes, the friend whose sister died is the Chairman of Stayfit fitness group that I formed and managed for close to 2 years now. As a chairman, I worked closely with him in making decisions in behalf of the fitness group. We supported each other so well that we become as family friends.
3 months ago, he told me about his sister who is so dear to him. Out of the family of 5, he is so close to this one so much so that she because confident. He felt so downhearted during her illness that he did all he could to better her situation but all to no avail and suddenly, after much energy and resources were spent, he gave up. He felt so devastated and frustrated, unaware of what to do. However, with the comforting words he received from friends, he had to put himself together until the burial date. I was invited but the invitation came on the day of the burial. It seemed he forgot it or he wasn't just himself till that day. But I had to be there anyways. The pictures below were taken by me on the day I attended the burial. Read the description of each to know the story behind them.
Picture No. 1: The Burial Poster
I boarded a bus from my current city of residence and arrived by 1pm and met this poster at the entrance of the venue. I was shocked at the age of the deceased. She was a very young lady and energetic woman. I didn't see her alive but I felt so emotional at the mere sight of this picture. In fact, I couldn't move for some time. I was confused that people coming out from the burial location began asking if I knew the deceased that much. I managed to go inside after taking this picture. You can see how beautiful and young she looked.
Picture No. 2: the Burial Venue was St Dominic primary school, ekit Itam2, after Ibom specialist hospital, along Ikot Ekpene Rd, Uyo
I was given the burial Venue via WhatsApp message as you can read above. I had to follow the description to get there but it wasn't difficult to locate. Upon entering the school premises, I noticed that an event took place there but the chairs are being packed and the canopies are almost being dismantled. I was almost lost in thought as per if I was at the right location. But I was since I already saw the poster at the entrance and the name is familiar. Then I asked around to be sure. That was when I was told that they already finished the burial and went to the grave for interment. But I was told to wait because the family members will be back to the venue before heading to the entertainment venue. I took the picture above while waiting. You can see the chairs being stacked.
Picture No. 3: Selfie with my Bereaved friend
Though uncertain of the information, I put a call across to the brother but he didn't pick. I had to just seat down. After about 30 minutes, they appeared and looking closely, I saw the Friend that invited me. I quickly went to him and apologised for being late. He told me that he didn't even know that I could make it owing to the late invite. He was so happy to see me. We then took the picture above. After which, he asked me to join the family to their fathers house in the town for a little refreshment. All my efforts to reject proved abortive. I went with them
I was served food and drink there and I later went back before 4pm to my city of residence. Trust you now understand the story behind these pictures. They were taken by me with my own device. I therefore invite @okere-blessing @goodybest and @dequeen to join in this contest
