My Weekly Food Highlight, Take a look

Greetings to you all great Steemians,

Food is more than just something we eat; it sometimes becomes the comfort we need after a stressful day and this week, I enjoyed some delicious meals that made my days brighter and my appetite to increase . Below are some of the favorite foods I consumed this week.

Here is my entry.

My favorite food highlights for this week includes

  • Spaghetti jollof with chicken and Nutrimilk

  • Rice and stew with beef

  • Shawarma, cake, and parfait

  • Fried plantain and fried eggs

Spaghetti Jollof with Chicken and Nutrimilk

My first food highlight for the week was spaghetti jollof with chicken, complemented with Nutrimilk. The major ingredients for this meal were spaghetti, chicken, tomatoes, groundnut oil, pepper, onions, and seasonings. I ate this meal on Sunday evening. It is usually eaten with a fork, and the recipe was quite simple to prepare. First, I boiled the spaghetti in a pot for about 5–10 minutes. After that, I drained the water and began frying the groundnut oil. I added pepper, onions, and tomatoes into the oil and stirred everything together. Then, I added a little water to the stew before pouring in the spaghetti and mixing it properly.

After allowing it to cook for a few more minutes, I topped it with green peas and carrots to make it more nutritious. After I finished cooking, I wanted the meal to look attractive and special, so I went out to buy roasted chicken and Nutrimilk to complement it. One reason this meal stood out for me was because I had been craving it throughout the day. Even though I was tired that evening due to stress, I still found the strength to prepare it because it was the only thing I truly wanted to eat that day.

Rice and Stew with Beef

My second food highlight for the week was simple rice and stew with beef. The major ingredients being used were rice, tomatoes, and groundnut oil. I ate this meal on Monday afternoon. It can be eaten with either a spoon or fork, but I enjoy eating it with a spoon. The reason why I ate this meal is because it's actually one of my favorites, and it was prepared for me by my close friend and neighbor. She surprised me with it after she noticed that I had not eaten that afternoon. She already knew it was one of my favorite meals, and her kindness made it taste even more special.

Shawarma, Cake, and Parfait yogurt

My third food highlight for the week was shawarma, cake, and parfait yogurt. These snacks can be enjoyed at any time of the day. I ate them on Tuesday afternoon after my exams. I actually promise myself to celebrate and appreciate my effort after successfully completing my school examinations. Before the exams, I had promised myself that I would spoil myself with something nice afterward, so after the exams, I went to Crunchies to get shawarma and a chilled drink. It felt like the perfect reward I had to give to myself that day.

Fried plantain and fried eggs

My last food highlight for this week was delicious fried plantain and eggs. The major ingredients for this meal were ripe plantain, eggs and groundnut oil. I ate the meal this morning. This meal can be eaten with a fork or any other cutlery, but I mostly prefer using a fork. The recipe was quite simple. First, I peeled the plantain and washed it with clean water; I added a little salt and then fried it until it became golden brown.

For the eggs, I cracked two eggs into a bowl, I mixed them with seasoning, and fried them in hot oil. The result was a tasty combination that complemented the fried plantain. The factor that made me settle for this meal was because I had been craving it, and I already had plantains available at home, and I did not want them to become overripe, so I decided to prepare them. To make the meal more special and satisfying, I bought eggs to go along with it and trust me, this meal was one of the most delicious and sumptuous meals I ate throughout the week.
