Reasons why you should avoid using methylated spirit to clean your wounds.
If anyone tries to use a spirit to clean your wound, please do not allow them. Spirit is not designed for open wounds; it was specifically designed for disinfection of the skin, not the wound on the skin. Methylated spirit on the skin can cause damage to the healthy tissues of the wound, slow down the process of wound healing, cause severe pain and burns on the skin, dry out the wounds, and kill the body. Preparing cells, and if the concentration of the spirit is too much and it penetrates into the bloodstream, it can cause toxicity of the blood. In other words, it will cause harm to the blood in your body.
Instead of using this dangerous weapon called spirit on your wound, I recommend the use of normal saline. Normal saline (drip) is the combination of water and salt to make it a solution. It will help to wash out the dirt on the wound and make it clean. You can also use clean running water from the tap and pour it inside the wound until it's clean because if it's not clean, it can lead to infection, and you can also make use of hydrogen peroxide.

Normal saline and running water
This is what is mostly used in the hospital I'm working at to clean wounds. It is a chemical liquid made of hydrogen and oxygen, which can help in cleaning dirt and removing debris and sand, and it dries blood in the wound and so therefore promotes healing.

Hydrogen peroxide
But this should be used once initially; it should not be used repeatedly or all the time because it may cause damage to the healthy tissues of the wound.
