Christmas is almost here

The festive season is here again and we are just few days away from Christmas. The harmattan weather is upon us. That familiar early morning mist that covers the entire atmosphere, reminding us we're about to draw the curtain to end the year and step into a new one.

The streets and houses are now lit up with Christmas lights decoration blinking through the nights giving everywhere that feeling of nostalgia and excitement. Kids are rehearsing songs for the Carol night, the markets are growing busy each passing day because customers are trying to avoid the last minute rush for food items and essentials.

A lots of events, weddings and burial ceremony lined up this Christmas season because that's when we truly experience dry season in Rivers State. Rivers State is popular for its constant rainfall, so that is why this weeks feel like a bit of relief for people to merry and celebrate without fear of sudden downpour of rain.

Gifts are being exchanged amongst family and friends to appreciate them. Love is shown more openly during this season. The roads are very busy because a lot of people are traveling to their home town to spend the Christmas with their relatives, Long lost connection are rekindled. In my village, we have this masquerade festival we hold every December as a way of displaying our cultural heritage.

Christmas is a season when the nights feel so short and laughter feels so loud. A period to mark the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and to remember that the true beauty of Christmas lies in Love
