Share your thoughts about Father

Hello my dear Steemians,
When we think about family it is commonly consist of mother, father and us, children. We often and a lot speaking about our mother and as little children when we just born and also in toddler years we are extremely dependent from our mother and her love. Still we have to remember that father figure plays also an important role in our development as a healthy individual and strong personality.
From classical picture of family we know that often mother is at home or most of her time at home. Father is working and earning money therefore, especially in 70-80’s it was normal that father was coming in the evening. That is why it was not much time for father-child time.
Despite of that many fathers were very engaged in the growing their children and used time either in evenings or on weekends.
I remember the time from my childhood too about my father. He always liked to do something at home, himself and that was for example when he was building our summer kitchen. It was a simple construction and he was mixing the cement in order to build the walls from bricks, it is often that as a child we also want to do the same. With a lot of patience he explained me how to mix cement and how to put the bricks and one row should be placed not in the same order so that wall is strong and stable. I remember how we were painting timber of our windows and he trusted me to do it with brushes.
We also had our big dog and I was scared of it and he taught me how to deal with a dog in order to gain its trust and respect.
There are many small and big things that I learnt. I also remember,. Maybe one of the important for me and it is a skill to swim. As a child I was scared of water, especially if I was not able to fill the floor when I was in water. He was holding me and explained what to do and even how to dive. I was very excited to learn swimming and diving. These two skills are the most remarkable skills and every time when I am in water, I just remember the time when I was a child and it makes me smile, because now it is my favourite hobby swimming.
