Was it put there by a gravity, by a squirrel, or by something else?

These photos of a Black Walnut wedged between two tree branches were taken today.
It was not placed there by me, and I honestly don't know how the walnut ended up there, but it made me curious. The tree it's sitting in is a Black Walnut tree, so it's conceivable that it fell from a higher branch.
I'm guessing that a squirrel did it. This is a tree where I commonly see an American Red Squirrel eating the walnuts.
