A few days ago I had a serious argument with one of my friends about snakes. He kept insisting that snake's are dangerous creatures that should never be kept close to humans.

According to him

*No matter how calm a snake looks, one day it's can still bite you"

Honestly I understood his fear because many people grow up believing every snake is evil, aggressive and deadly . But I disagreed with him because not every snake are highly venomous and surprisingly , some species can actually become calm and beautiful pets when properly cared for.

That conversation made me remember a little experience I had some years ago with a pet snake owned by a guy living close to our area. At first I was terrified .

The snake was ball python, one of the most popular pet snake in the world . Unlike dangerous wild snake, Ball Python are known for being calm ,shy and non-aggressive . The first day I saw it resting quietly around his arm, I almost refused to go closed. But after watching how relaxed and gentle it's behaved, my fear slowly reduced.

What surprised me most was how neat and beautiful the snake looked. It's skin pattern were like natural artwork, and the way it's moved calmly without attacking anyone changed my mindset to completely.

Can Snakes Truly Be Pets?

Yes, some snakes can truly live with humans, especially non-venomous species raised in proper environment.

Popular pets snakes include:

Ball Python. Corn snake. California King Snake. Rosy Boa.

These snakes are usually preferred because they are calmer and easier to handle compared to wild venomous snakes.
