A kite seller and My feelings.
Today started very normally. Due to office needs, I had to go to see the technical work of an ATM booth. But who knew, in a corner of this mechanical city today I would find a piece of artistic joy and a different story of life struggle.
When I reached the particular ATM booth, I saw that I would be a little late to start my work. Sitting on the green grass right in front of the booth, a man was doing something with deep concentration. When I got closer, I saw that he was a kite seller and craftsman. He was repairing a huge eagle-shaped kite made of a mixture of plastic and cloth with very skillful hands.
The sight of a man sitting on the grass in the middle of the concrete of this mechanical city, fixing the kite with such fascination, stopped me in my tracks for a moment. It seemed that there was a calm and patient world beyond our busy lives.
Out of curiosity, I went and sat next to him. As I spoke, I noticed his handiwork. He is very skillfully balancing the kite, tying the thread and mending the torn parts. When he spread the blue and gold wings of the kite on the grass, it seemed like a huge bird was preparing to fly into the blue sky. There is no rush in his work, there is only a desire to make it perfect.
We had a long conversation with him in between work. He told us that he has been involved in this profession for many years. Making and selling kites is not only his livelihood, it is also his addiction. He was talking about how to balance the kite by understanding the speed of the wind. Hours of labor and love go into making each kite.
I was really impressed by his words of experience. When we see a colorful kite flying in the blue sky, we may not think about how much patience and talent a craftsman has to put into making it suitable for spreading its wings. Every word he said was like a lesson learned from life. He knows the trick of how to give a small piece of paper or cloth the power to fly in the sky. The time I spent with him before starting the mechanical work of the ATM booth, removed a lot of the fatigue of my mind. We run around all day long with money and career, but how satisfied this man is with little and how careful he is with his work!
There are so many talents and stories hidden around us, which we avoid due to our busyness. Today's incident taught me that behind every small work there is a big art. When I said goodbye to that talented man and returned to my work, the wings of those colorful kites were still floating in my mind. I hope that these kites made by him will be carried by some child and spread their wings high in the blue sky.
