Hello Steemians, You can count on days you began very joyous and happy, but all of a sudden you receive a call that completely changes your mood; irrespective of how you try to control that moment, it becomes pretentious. Such was yesterday. I was happy with all I did and even got to rest at some point since I did not go anywhere apart from the scheduled evening of songs at 5pm.
In all of my story, as you keep reading down, there was a moment of pressure, but God helped me to handle it maturely, and I still ended my day with joy.

MORNING RECORDS

Prayers were said, committing the day to God. Do not just start your day casually; ensure that God Almighty is involved through your prayers.

I took my boy to school and returned home to spend time with my wife and continued setting examinations for my classes. I was also listening to TVC News, where abductions by terrorists were confirmed in Niger State, as 10 farmers were kidnapped. The next headline was on the emergency threat as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declares a nationwide security emergency and orders the army and police to recruit more personnel.

In Nigeria right now a lot of persons do not have much interest or the hunger and passion to join the army and other uniformed arms due to how many have wasted their lives serving the nation and due to terrorism. But we need them more to combat this menace of insecurity.

AFTERNOON PRESSURE

In the afternoon, I was sleeping after I set examinations for about 3 classes. My phone rang, and I struggled to open my eyes; my wife then touched me to answer the call from a colleague. On taking the call, my heart was torn apart by the information received. I applied for a programme and have been anticipating it for about a month now. When the list came out, I was given what I would have asked for in my widest selection.

At this point I was under pressure, not knowing what to do. I started making some calls. Some numbers couldn't go through, and a few who answered advised me to find out about it before the next so that it won't be too late. It was 2pm already, and I had to summon courage, telling myself, “Go and see it yourself.” When I got to the school board, it was the same, and I began to enquire from one office to another how I could be helped before things fell apart and the centre could not hold.

My bold step and not keeping it to myself or beginning to lay blame made a way for me. One of the ICT experts in that office told me to wait for just one final check online to see if what is on the board is what is reflected in the portal. At this point the pressure reduced by 10%. I patiently waited for him for over an hour as he was with others on his official duty. After an hour, I drew his attention to the fact that I am still around. He asked for my email and password as used for the registration of the programme. From there, I checked and found out that what is on the board is a typographical error and does not affect me in any way, as my portal has exactly what I applied for. The pressure then reduced to 0%. I was happy and appreciated his efforts with a token, and I left to call my wife, who was so worried, to relax and know that all is well.

EVENING RECORDS

In the evening I fetched some rubbers of water before going to church at 5pm for an evening of songs. On reaching the churchyard, I noticed the YOWICCN banner was not yet mounted as agreed to be done by the sexton, and I had to ensure that they engaged in it before I entered the service that was about to commence. Meanwhile, I checked around the church to see the tank stand construction. It was completed and left with the GeePee tank to be set up for it to supply to the manse.

After a moment, the evening service started, having the bereaved family and friends. Different church groups and the family sang some solemn hymns, reflecting on the life and time of the deceased. It was quite sorrowful when the hymn “When peace like a river attended my way, when sorrows like sea below roll, whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, ‘It is well with my soul" was sung.

The preacher of the day touched the hearts of the congregants with the message he titled IN TIMES LIKE THIS”.
The family must stick together.
The church must reflect how our last days will be.
Everyone should be prepared for death, which is inevitable.
Sinners must repent.
We prayed after the homily for the family of the deceased and then said the grace in fellowship as we dismissed at about 6:37pm. I came back and thanked God for the day as I shared every single moment out with my wife. I had my dinner after watching Nottingham Forest in the Europa League.

LESSONS OF THE DAY

  1. Pray and expect the unforeseen eventualities which may come by the day.
  2. Always think of the best way to handle pressure rather than blaming others.
  3. You are the the best of you.
