Steemit Learning Challenge-S27W2; Physiofit; Swelling Reduction Challenge
Assalamu Alaikum..!!
My Dear Friends,
I am @jannatakter24 from #Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Hello my dear Steemit friends. First of all, take my love and best regards. Today I am here to participate in the Steemit Learning Challenge-S27W2; Physiofit; Swelling Reduction Challenge organized by @ashkhan sir. So let's get started.
First you need to share your knowledge about swelling, its types and pathophysiology.
Swelling is a condition in the body where excess fluid accumulates. It usually occurs due to injury, sprain, inflammation, infection, burn and loss of function in an organ.
Symptoms of swelling
The affected area becomes red. The affected area enlarges in size and swells. The area feels hot to the touch. It hurts to touch. The affected area is difficult to move and feels tight.
Four types of swelling
- Localized swelling: Localized swelling usually occurs in a specific area of the body such as the wrists, knees and ankles. It is usually caused by a sudden sprain or strain.
- Generalized swelling: This swelling occurs throughout the body. Sometimes, fluid accumulates throughout the body due to the failure of a specific organ, kidney or heart.
- Acute swelling: This swelling occurs suddenly due to infection or injury.
- Chronic swelling: This type of swelling lasts for a long time. This swelling lasts for a long time due to a specific disease when the functioning of any organ of the body fails. For example, due to the failure of the kidney or heart, fluid accumulates in the body for a long time.
Pathophysiology
Swelling in the body occurs when the pressure inside the blood vessels increases or the amount of protein in the blood increases, resulting in fluid in the surrounding tissues. If the kidneys, liver and heart do not function properly, this fluid cannot be removed. As a result, the fluid accumulates throughout the body and the body swells.
2: You need to find a patient who has symptoms and share the history of injury or illness. If you have recently suffered from an injury that has caused swelling, you can also share your history.
Today, the patient whose medical history I will share in this post is my aunt. Recently, while going to the market, aunt suddenly fell down from the road and injured her ankle. She did not feel much pain after falling. But after a few hours, when she woke up in the morning, she saw that her ankle and foot were swollen and her feet were red. As soon as she put her foot on the ground, it started to hurt a lot and she started feeling a throbbing pain in the swollen area. As soon as she touched it with her hand, it felt like fluid had accumulated in that area, which caused tons of pain. Due to which she could not walk normally. The characteristics of the injury showed that it was severe swelling. Because a few hours after the injury, it swelled in a specific place on the ankle. There was redness, pain and warmth in the swollen area. Then she was given rest, ice packs and bandages, and her swelling gradually started to decrease. She recovered within two days.

3: It would be good to apply the above-mentioned physiotherapy management to treat the patient's pain, share videos or pictures during the treatment and review after the treatment.
A sudden fall while walking on the road causes swelling of the ankle and the foot. The patient's pain can be cured by applying the above-mentioned physiotherapy management. The rules of physiotherapy include the Rice protocol, ice application, compression, rest and elevation. Physiotherapy is the most effective method to reduce swelling.
🔸Ice pack: Applying an ice pack to the affected area within 24 to 48 hours is an effective method. Use the ice pack 2-3 times for 15 minutes on the affected area. It reduces pain, inflammation and swelling and constricts the blood vessels to stop bleeding.
🔸 Compression: To reduce swelling, wrap it lightly with a scraper bandage. If the bandage is too tight, it can stop blood circulation.
🔸 Elevation: The injured leg should be kept higher than the heart. While resting, a pillow should be placed under the leg. The fluid accumulated in the swollen area gradually returns to the body and the swelling decreases.
Vedio
🔸 Rest: Due to the problem of swelling of the leg, you should rest for at least two to three days. Because when you walk, the pain and swelling may increase due to the weight on the heel. Therefore, you should rest with a pillow under the leg for 2-3 days.
If you use these physiotherapy regularly for a few days, the swelling will reduce within 2-3 days and you will be able to walk normally within 5-6 days. Now my aunt is healthy and she does not have difficulty walking. If you want, you can use these physiotherapies to reduce swelling and pain.
