True Colours' Guidelines September 2026
Dear Steemit team and artistic, creative, talented Steemians,
We’ve been wondering whether the True Colours guidelines need to be updated. Actually, we don’t think so.
In September, we’ll be the team voting on the posts and comments relating to our chosen theme. As before, this will be: Art and artists – the truly creative souls.
True creativity is expressed through the emotions embedded in the work. There needs to be a connection, something that makes us think, moves us or even provokes us.
As we already wrote in our application, art has many faces, and yes, reactions are part of that too.
The criteria for True Colours are:
- active artists
- personal input
- originality
- showing the process (photos/text)
- adding information from which others can learn or which makes the viewer/reader think
- creativity/art/talent at a higher level
- responding to reactions to comments
Our focus here is also on Europe, Asia and the forgotten/neglected countries and Steemians and those posting outside communities.
Guidelines:
- Original titles
- The use of the right external hashtags to help make posts and Steemit visible!
Note: without the right hashtags it’s hard if not impossible to find you. - Text should be written by the author (instead of AI, a brother or a student), and be original (plagiarism is a big NO).
- If you are committed and supportive, we will not skip your content.
- We do not downvote
- We comment
- We reward a high number of comments equally or higher since commenters are the soul of this platform.
Flexibility
Our team is flexible, and we will be on the lookout 24/7.
The number of rewards we give depends on the percentage of upvotes.
Our votes will work with percentages given for the: title, text, pictures/photos (for example: quality and fitting to the text), hashtags (be aware of hashtag abuse!), etc.
A Colourful Overview
The most creative entries will be announced in our weekly report. And yes, we keep asking you to please, pay attention to posting in the right place, to pay attention to your titles, hashtags and your notifications (the comment) we leave behind.

I like to add that we go for the artistic and creative content and are not doing wordcounts
There is no need of adding useless words to have 300, 500 or 1500 words.
Do not copy-paste nonsense text distracting from your poem, lyrics, photo story, paintings, or short story just to have the "required" word count. There is no minimum of words you should use, nothing that guarantees you will be noticed more.
Stick to your niche and be and stay unique.
A great and above all creative September.

Your observation is very valid. Indeed, art is so diverse that using only a few hashtags would limit participation. So, knowing that @wakeupkitty and I, @solperez, are working as a curation team for this topic, you can tag us if you consider your post to be artistic. This suggestion applies to all users of the platform.
I have never worked on this platform before with art or I have done it but I do not know what art it falls under. It is natural not to know because I have never researched what is considered art, I think that reciting rhymes and writing are also considered art. However, in the current modern era, many of us do not know how new arts have emerged here. For example, a vfx worker is called a vfx artist. I want to know from you whether video editing, fictional story writing, graphic design, etc. fall under art.
Sí. Se considera "arte" todo lo que sea "creativo". Es decir, todo aquello que no haga cualquiera, sino una persona "diferente".
Tenía un profesor de Literatura que decía que "El arte era para la inmensa minoría", jeje.
Significa que si lo que haces es igual a lo que hacen muchos, entonces ya no es arte. No sé si me expliqué.
Pero te puedo dar una lista de publicaciones que consideraríamos arte: escritura creativa (relatos, poemas, ensayos, obras dramáticas...), esculturas de todo tipo, labores manuales (tejidos, bordados, pintura sobre tela...), pinturas con intención artística, no calcos ingenuos, etc.
El detalle con los vídeos es que existe un equipo de curación de los mismos, y no queremos traspasar esa frontera.

Yes it does! Same for photography, needlework, music composing, singing... Creativity, talents but it all depends how it shown and creative writing, poetry, story writing (fiction, tales) are also part of art.
I have written 3 thriller fictions in the last two days and they are completely written by me but whenever I check ai detect it keeps showing thirty to forty percent ai creation and I can't do anything except get annoyed. So I decided to share the drawing today and shared the drawing. I can write very good fiction stories and I have shared it many times on this platform before. I have tried many times and till now I have written three fiction stories and the story is the same in all three but I will try inshallah.
Which AI checker did you use?
Not all are good and I noticed often they state it is AI written just to make you buy the product.
Another problem is that AI uses phrases and sentences people use.
Does your AI checker show those sentences or parts of your text which are according to it is written (and polished) by AI?
