Community, Greetings! I am thrilled to share an uplifting experience from the 2025/2026 Dietetics Interns Orientation conducted at the Nutrition and Dietetics Department of AEFUTHA.

Attending Dietitians Intern 2025/2026 Virtual Orientation

The orientation was highly successful, achieving an impressive attendance rate of 99.8%. This event was part of a larger training initiative designed to equip our new interns with the essential skills, knowledge, and ethical understanding required to succeed in the ever-evolving field of Dietetics.

The orientation commenced last week with a vital training session on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), presented by an expert in the field. This training offered the interns essential guidelines for ensuring safety in clinical settings, which is crucial in any healthcare environment. The interns learned about effective sanitation methods, infection prevention protocols, and how to maintain a sterile environment to safeguard both patients and healthcare workers.

However, yesterday's orientation session continued to provide valuable insights and was well-organized. We began with a Legal Enlightenment presentation by a representative from AEFUTHA's Legal Department. This discussion emphasized the legal rights of both dietetics interns and patients, ensuring that everyone understands the ethical and legal framework that guides our work. It served as an important reminder of our duty to uphold patient confidentiality and the ethical obligations we have as healthcare professionals.

Following that, there was an informative overview of The AEFUTHA Communication Policy led by the Head of the Communication Department. This session clarified the significance of effective communication within healthcare settings, particularly when interacting with patients, colleagues, and other professionals. Clear communication fosters better patient outcomes and facilitates smoother interactions in clinical environments.

Another significant segment focused on Financial Management, where a representative from UBA Insurance offered best practices for managing personal finances. This lesson is essential for every intern and professional, emphasizing the importance of planning for long-term financial stability through topics like budgeting, saving, and insurance.

The orientation then transitioned to exploring the Civil Service Rules and the Ethics of the Dietetics Profession. This part, conducted by the Head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, enabled interns to understand the rules governing their professional conduct in both public service and healthcare. A solid grasp of ethics is crucial for navigating complex workplace situations.

Finally, the Internship Coordinator detailed the AEFUTHA Dietetics Internship Program Schedule, providing interns with a clear outline of what to anticipate during their time here, ensuring they are well-prepared for their practical learning journey ahead.

We are immensely grateful to the Hospital Management for this invaluable opportunity to support our future dietetics professionals. This orientation reflects AEFUTHA’s commitment to nurturing the growth and development of healthcare experts. It marks a perfect beginning for what we hope will be a fulfilling and educational internship experience.

Anticipating the exciting journey ahead for the Interns👍
