A total of 45 heirs of victims who died in the floods and landslides that occurred in Bireuen at the end of November received compensation on Saturday (March 14, 2026).

The compensation, amounting to Rp 15 million, was distributed to each heir from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Bireuen Regency Government. The assistance was presented by the Regent of Bireuen, H. Mukhlis ST, as a token of the government's concern for the community affected by the ecological disaster. The event took place at the Regent's hall.

The Head of the Bireuen Social Service, Ismunandar ST MT, stated that the distribution of compensation was the result of a verification of victim data conducted by the local government, along with village and sub-district officials.

The total number of victims who died in Bireuen is 46. 45 have been registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs and are receiving assistance, while one victim is still in the verification process. The aid funds come from the Ministry of Social Affairs and are distributed through the Regent of Bireuen.

"Previously, we were asked to collect victim data, complete all administrative requirements, and then submit it to the ministry until the aid could be disbursed," he said.

He added that the verification process involved various parties, from village officials, sub-district heads, to the regency government.

During the data collection process, there was still one victim from Peusangan District who is currently being proposed for similar assistance.

The recipients of the assistance are heirs, including wives, children, parents, or husbands. The assistance is IDR 15 million per person and is given in cash.

After the data collection is complete, recipients are called one by one to sign the report and
wait to receive their assistance. The assistance is handed out to each recipient accompanied by the sub-district heads of each sub-district.

After handing over the aid, the Regent of Bireuen, H. Mukhlis ST, stated that the aid demonstrates the state's concern for the people affected by the natural disaster.

"The flash floods and landslides are a test from Allah SWT. The central government, through the President, is providing attention and support to the people of Bireuen affected by the floods," said Mukhlis.

In addition to compensation for the victims who died, the government has also distributed various other forms of assistance to communities affected by the ecological disaster that occurred at the end of 2025.

The recent floods and landslides not only damaged infrastructure and residential areas but also caused casualties in several areas.

He added that the local government continues to strive to assist communities affected by the disaster.

According to him, various response measures are being implemented, from emergency assistance to post-disaster recovery efforts.

He also revealed that on several occasions he has personally provided assistance to communities affected by the disaster.

Now, he said, let's work together to rise above this disaster and hope that this assistance can ease the burden on the victims' families and serve as proof that the government remains present among the community when facing disasters.
