Post-Flood, BNPB Head Visits Bireuen. We'll Cover All Post-Disaster Needs.
The Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General Suharyanto, accompanied by his staff, assured that all needs would be addressed and assisted.
He made this statement on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) after hearing a presentation on the impact of the flooding from Bireuen Regent, H. Mukhlis ST, during a meeting at the Bireuen Regent's hall.
"We will fully cover all post-disaster response needs, and we will provide full support from the first day of the flood or hydrometeorological disaster in Aceh Province," he said.
The BNPB Head explained that the central government has repaired 12 large bridges in Aceh, including the Kutablang Bridge in Bireuen, which is currently being repaired by the central government. The presidential instruction is currently being finalized.
Disaster impact management will be handled through a special mechanism, involving not only BNPB but also all ministries. The Presidential Instruction will be finalized soon.
He also stated that the need to build small bridges, such as the suspension bridge in Bireuen, significantly impacts the residents' primary economic access. If anyone is willing to build one, they will be funded.
The same applies to opening up blocked roads and normalizing residential areas buried in mud and soil.
If there is private heavy equipment available for rent, his office will cover the rent, along with other necessary expenses.
"Construction of permanent housing for flood victims is also permitted, as desired by the community. It could be on other land owned and close to their original housing location, but as long as it's not on the riverbank again and the location is truly safe," he said.
For residents who lost their homes, temporary housing measuring 4x6 meters can also be built, so they no longer have to be forced to evacuate.
Furthermore, those with family homes will be provided with a living allowance of Rp 600,000 per month for the first three months, from November, December, to January 2026.
"Meanwhile, hydrometeorological disaster victims whose homes were severely damaged will receive repair assistance of Rp 30 million per house and Rp 15 million per house for lightly damaged homes," he explained.
The Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General Suharyanto, also stated that after the Presidential Instruction is issued, temporary housing will be built immediately. There's no need to wait for complete data on the number of homes available, as construction can be completed in stages.
Responding to the Bireuen Regent's request regarding the cleanup of settlements and homes buried in mud and soil, the Head of the BNPB stated that if heavy equipment is available, it can be deployed immediately.
"We'll pay for the heavy equipment rental. I've also requested assistance from two Mobile Brigade battalions and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to help clean up the homes of flood victims. The Military District Command (Kodim) and the Bireuen Police Department have also requested 200 personnel each. Everyone must be fully prepared to work. We will help cover the costs for our members," stressed Lieutenant General Suharyanto.
The Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) conveyed his hope that the central government would assist with the damage to public facilities such as schools, roads, mosques, meunasah (prayer houses), and bridges.
"I haven't seen the Presidential Instruction yet," said the Head of BNPB during the friendly meeting.
