Post-Flood, Indonesian President Visits Bireuen Regency.
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited the flood evacuation post in Gampong Pante Baro, Juli District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, Sunday (December 7, 2025).
During the visit, Prabowo greeted residents, inspected the public kitchen, and interacted with children. In the evacuation tent, he approached a mother holding her daughter and kissed the toddler's forehead.
The President also listened to residents' concerns. One of them, Wakinah, said that her house had been swept away by the flood.
"The river has taken it, sir. The house is no longer there," she said, shaking the President's hand.
Upon hearing this, Prabowo nodded. Prabowo then reassured the evacuees and emphasized that the government would allocate funds for recovery and housing for affected residents.
"I have prepared the budget," the President said.
Before visiting the evacuation tent, the President inspected the public kitchen and sampled tuna.
Afterward, he briefed Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, known as Mualem. The two discussed the handling of the refugees at length.
Limited Logistics, Government Under Pressure.
The evacuation situation remains extremely limited. Thousands of residents are surviving on urgent needs such as ready-to-eat food, medicine, and baby supplies.
Volunteers at the public kitchen acknowledged that logistical supplies are insufficient and that aid distribution needs to be expedited.
Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf emphasized that the refugees face the threat of starvation due to obstructed access to aid.
"They died not because of the flood, but because of starvation," he said.
He instructed the acceleration of aid distribution and reprimanded several regents who were deemed incompetent in handling the disaster.
