Continuous Voter Data Scatter Checks to Safeguard the Public's Voting Rights |
The Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of East Aceh Regency will conduct spot checks in eight sub-districts. This is to ensure the suitability and accuracy of data during the monitoring of the Continuous Voter Data Update (PDPB) for the third quarter of 2025.
Muhammad Fazil, M.Pd., Coordinator of the Prevention, Public Participation, and Public Relations (P2H) Division of Bawaslu East Aceh Regency, stated that the activity is being conducted to ensure the protection of the public's voting rights. Therefore, the spot checks are deemed necessary in accordance with Bawaslu Circular Letter Number 29 of 2025 concerning PDPB Supervision.
Following the simultaneous democratic celebration of the 2024 General Election and the 2024 Regional Elections, we are now entering the non-staged period, with the data likely to change significantly across various sectors. According to Fazil, these changes will impact the number of eligible and ineligible voters, such as first-time voters, students, and retired military and police officers.
Furthermore, there are also deceased voters, and voters whose status has changed, as well as those who have moved in and out, are completely valid.
"To protect the public's voting rights and prevent potential administrative violations in the future, it is mandatory to conduct spot checks directly with the community," said Fazil after the spot check in a village in East Aceh on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The spot checks were conducted over three days, from Tuesday to Thursday, November 18-20, 2025, in eight sub-districts in East Aceh Regency.
The spot checks were conducted to ensure the ongoing voter data updating process was carried out in accordance with General Elections Commission Regulation Number 1/2025. "We ensure the continuous compilation and maintenance of voter data to ensure accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date data is available," Fazil added.
By conducting random checks in these eight sub-districts, Fazil hopes that future elections will be cleaner, more accurate, and free from invalid voter data issues. The public will be able to exercise their right to vote without administrative obstacles.
Article 2 of KPU Regulation No. 1/2025 establishes the principles for PDPB implementation, including comprehensiveness, inclusiveness, accuracy, up-to-dateness, openness, responsiveness, participation, accountability, personal data protection, and accessibility. Meanwhile, Article 9 of KPU Regulation No. 1/2025 stipulates that at the regency/city level, PDPB implementation must be conducted at least every three months.
Bawaslu members throughout Indonesia are equipped with Bawaslu Regulation No. 1 of 2025 concerning Continuous Supervision of Voter Data Updates, which serves as the basis for overseeing PDPB implementation, including oversight mechanisms, reporting, submission of findings, and recommendations.
Both of the above regulations are also based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, specifically the provision that organizers must update and maintain voter data on an ongoing basis.[]
