Vehicle traffic crossing the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Kutablang, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, was heavy on Sunday (December 28, 2025).

Although traffic flow remained steady, officers implemented an open-close system to regulate traffic in both directions. This system lasted approximately one hour for each lane, depending on conditions on the ground.

The queue of vehicles heading west toward the bridge stretched for more than 400 meters. A similar situation also occurred on the east side of the bridge.

The vehicles queuing included motorcycles, private cars, public passenger cars, and even trucks transporting goods, all traveling along the Medan-Banda Aceh National Highway.

Despite the length, the queue remained orderly. Vehicles were directed to enter one by one onto the Bailey Bridge, which is only passable in one direction.

After the westbound traffic had completed its passage, vehicles heading from Medan to Banda Aceh were allowed to enter. This open-close system continued alternately throughout the day.

Several officers from the Bireuen Police Traffic Unit and the Aceh Class II Land Transportation Management Agency (BPTD) were actively managing traffic flow. They ensured that vehicles moved in an orderly manner and did not overtake each other.

In addition, 20 Traffic Unit personnel were stationed at the bridge area. They worked in rotating shifts to ensure traffic flow remained under control.

Officers reminded motorists to remain patient and maintain order while crossing the bridge. Safety is a top priority, given the bridge's condition, which allows for alternating traffic in one direction only.

With the cooperation of all parties, it is hoped that traffic on the Medan-Banda Aceh National Highway will remain smooth despite the limitations.

The Kutablang Bridge in Bireuen is back in operation, allowing various types of vehicles with a maximum capacity of 30 tons. The much-awaited reopening of the bridge occurred on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

The bridge was damaged by the flash floods that struck Bireuen Regency on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
