Creativewriting || Basic education for students and the role of a teacher
Dear friends, admins, and all moderators of this beloved community. Elementary education is the first and mandatory level of education for children to develop knowledge, skills, and strong character, which form the foundation for their further education and social life.
This level of education includes Elementary School (SD) or Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), and continues on to Junior High School (SMP) or Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs), encompassing children's cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development. In Indonesia, basic education is compulsory for nine years: six years of elementary school and three years of junior high school.
The primary goal of basic education is to build knowledge and skills. In this context, teachers provide the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic, as well as knowledge of culture, history, and societal values.
Further goals include character development, fostering good ethics, morals, and attitudes, and fostering a sense of patriotism and civic pride. Basic education also aims to prepare students for a better and more competitive future, as well as to provide a strong foundation for their intellectual and character development.
Furthermore, basic education aims to foster gradual human development by laying the foundation for character development and human potential.
In providing basic education to students, the role of teachers is broad, encompassing educators, mentors, role models, facilitators, and motivators. Teachers are responsible for delivering subject matter, guiding character and emotional development, and serving as credible learning resources. They also act as facilitators, creating an active learning environment, exploring students' potential, and utilizing technology to enrich the learning experience.
Essentially, basic education is crucial for students because by providing basic education from an early age, we provide and lay the foundation for children's intelligence, knowledge, personality, noble character, and skills so they can live independently and be prepared to continue their education to a higher level.
