SMPN 2 Lhokseumawe sharing aids
On December 17th, 2025, the school community of SMP Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe carried out a humanitarian mission to support flood victims in Opak, Aceh Tamiang. This activity was driven by a sense of empathy, solidarity, and responsibility to stand together with our brothers and sisters who were facing difficult times.

The donations were collected from teachers, students, and parents of SMP Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe. In total, around 197 aid packages were prepared. Each package contained basic necessities such as rice, snacks, bread, eggs, instant noodles, pop mie, and bottled mineral water. From the total number, approximately 53 packages were distributed to flood-affected families of SMP Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe students, while the remaining packages were delivered to victims in Opak, Aceh Tamiang.

Upon arrival in Opak, the post-flood conditions were deeply concerning. Many roads were still covered in thick mud, houses were damaged, and daily activities had not returned to normal. Post-disaster handling appeared to be very slow. Many residents were unable to clean their homes because of limited access to clean water and the absence of heavy equipment to remove mud and debris.

The aid packages were distributed through flood relief posts. The team spent approximately one and a half hours at the location to ensure that all assistance was delivered properly to those in need. Here are some pictures I captured during distribution process.

Although the assistance provided was modest compared to the number of victims and the scale of the disaster, it represented our care, empathy, and moral support for the affected community. At the very least, we wanted them to know that they were not alone.

This disaster is not an ordinary one. It has caused widespread damage and significantly disrupted people’s lives, including children’s education. Therefore, we sincerely hope that it can be designated as a national disaster, so that emergency response, rehabilitation, and reconstruction processes can be carried out more quickly and effectively.

The childrens at Opak
With stronger attention and coordinated action from all stakeholders, we believe recovery can move faster. May the affected communities soon regain their strength, return to daily activities, and rebuild their lives with dignity. Above all, we hope that children can return to learning, and that hope, slowly, quietly, but surely, will rise again.
