||Steemit Challenge s28wk2 : Remembering Through Healing||
Tina came back home since her family was going through a tough time after the death of her mom. She came back home after years away, but she felt the walls still whispering stories of laughter and her mother’s gentle voice. She felt everything had changed since her mother was no more, but she remembered how her family moved through the days, trying to forget not so happy conversations that always irritated her.
Tina now cooked, cleaned, managed errands, and remembered all about her company with her mom, and evenings felt too long at times. She remembered the strain, the arguments flaring over small things, the way grief sometimes twisted love into impatience yet, their affection held them together. Tina felt upset every night, when the house settled into stillness.
She often felt as if gone back in the past and talking to her mom. She thought of her mother, her warmth, her strength, her laughter even if she didn't go so well with her at times.
She often wished she could talk to her, just once more, to say that she was trying her best, even when she failed. The thought brought both guilt and comfort. Losing her mother left an ache that time wouldn’t heal, yet, being back home gave her one quiet truth to hold on to, love doesn’t leave, even when people do.
After Tina's mother died, everything in her life seemed to stop. The news of her mother's death was like the sky falling down for her. As a child, Tina could not imagine anything without her mother. Tina loved her mother very much. But over time, they sometimes became distant. Especially after she grew up, Tina would get annoyed by her mother's small words due to the pressure of studying, her own will, or some kind of pride. When she was asked to work with her mother in the kitchen, she would turn her face away and say, "Mom, not now!" However, when that same Tina returns home after a long time, she feels as if her mother's love is mixed throughout the house. Whatever work she is going to do, she feels her mother's love in the work.
As soon as he entered the drawing room, he shivered at the touch of his mother's handmade curtain. When he went to the kitchen, it seemed as if his mother was still standing by the stove stirring the dal in the pot. And I was sitting next to him, saying that the dal was very beautiful. Even when he was going to sleep, it seemed like he could hear his mother's voice, turn off the light, mother, go to bed.
Tina understands that her mother is gone, but her shadow, her love, is still spread all around her. Just as before, she could not understand her mother's love when she was there, but today Tina feels her mother's love everywhere. The things she did not want to do before, she now does them herself. Sweeping the dust, folding clothes, cooking, she feels a strange peace. She feels her mother's touch in every task.
One day, Tina was getting her younger brother ready for school. The brother was surprised and said, "You are just like your mother now." Hearing this, Tina remained silent for a while. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, but she hid them and smiled and said, "I can't be your mother, but I'm trying to be like her." As soon as these words came out of her brother's mouth, Tina immediately started thinking about her mother.
This is how Tina started to adapt to life again. Gradually, everyone in the house noticed the change in Tina. The girl who was previously busy with her own work, is now running the entire family. Father quietly put his hand on Tina's shoulder and said one day, "If you had a mother, she would be proud to see you." Tina didn't say anything, she thought to herself and tears fell from her eyes. And she said, "Mom is still here, I see her every day, I feel her. Mom's love will always be with me."
Time passes. Tina now has the courage to fulfill the dreams her mother left behind. Her mother wanted Tina to do well in her studies and stand on her own feet. So Tina enrolled in college again. She went to class, hung out with friends, and returned home to take care of the family's responsibilities. Sometimes she felt tired, sometimes tears came to her eyes, but it felt like her mother was by her side, watching over all the work. She always felt her mother's love.
At night, she writes in her diary, "Mom, you are present in every step of my life even when you are not there. I know you are proud. You have taught me how to be like a mother. Today I understand that being a mother is not just about giving birth, but also being an embodiment of love, responsibility and self-sacrifice." One night, the electricity suddenly went out. The whole house was dark. Tina turned on the light of her mobile and went to the kitchen, the curtains were blowing in the light breeze.
Suddenly, it seemed like a voice from her mother came out, "Don't be afraid, mother, I am here." Tina smiled, closed her eyes and said, "I know, mother, you are always there. I always find you in my work, in my joy, in my sorrow, in everything." Finally, death can never end love. Many people like Tina may lose someone close to them and break down, but the memories, love and everything that that person taught them teach them to love life again. Mother is gone, but the scent of her love remains in every breath, in every work.
