For reasons of fairness — since I’m on the organizers’ side — I will not take part directly in the first episode of TotoSteem, the community’s first official contest, which offers an interesting prize pool of 50 Steem.

Since it’s a prediction contest, I would have no way of influencing the final result, but some naturally suspicious people (like me) might still think that the selected matches are somehow those I personally consider easier to predict.

In professional football — especially in the country where I live — there are already plenty of suspicions that things are “adjusted” one way or another, and honestly I don’t think we need that here as well. And besides, winning a reward essentially put up by myself wouldn’t make much sense.

This doesn’t change the fact that I’m convinced the contest can turn out to be fun and interesting for sports lovers on Steemit. So, wherever you are, I invite you to take part and join the community. After all, we are, as of today, the only surviving sports community on Steemit.

So, purely for fun and completely out of competition, here are my predictions for the selected matches. With one warning: don’t copy me! In Totocalcio — the game that inspired TotoSteem — I only won once, a second‑tier prize (at the time, if I remember correctly, the equivalent of about 50 USD). Draw your own conclusions.

1️⃣ Juventus vs Milan: 1

More than a prediction, a hope. I’m a big Juventus fan, and beating Milan — one of the direct rivals for a Champions League spot — would mean a vital injection of confidence. However, in this match I consider every result possible.

2️⃣ Bologna vs Sassuolo: 1

An Emilia derby already loaded with tension given what’s at stake. The home side have started poorly, with two losses in as many matches, and this looks like the right opportunity to finally put their first win in the bag. A draw shouldn’t be ruled out, in line with the old saying “better two injured than one dead.” I believe much less in a Sassuolo victory.

3️⃣ Everton vs Manchester United: X

It looks like another season of ups and downs has begun for the most famous club on the planet, with Everton actually starting better than their opponents on the day. If I had to bet a euro (or cast a vote in TotoSteem), I’d go for a draw — but if United play like they did last matchday, rather than like they did in the first, a win could very well be on the cards.

4️⃣ Arsenal vs Chelsea: 1

Usually, in contests like these, it’s precisely the supposedly “safe” picks that trigger the most unexpected surprises. The Gunners’ victory seems — if not guaranteed — at least very likely. But what if the Blues’ atomic attack decides to play a trick?

5️⃣ Alaves vs Osasuna: X

Two wins and a draw have catapulted both teams into the very top positions of the table, right behind the historic powerhouses of Spanish football. It’s going to be a thrilling clash that could very well end in a stalemate.

6️⃣ Malaga vs Levante: 2

Málaga is experiencing one of the worst starts to a season in its recent history, with just one point collected in three matches, one goal scored and seven conceded. Levante arrive in Andalusia as a carefree, free‑flowing side. A home win seems likely, but on the betting slip I’m going with the away team. There has to be at least one upset for probability’s sake, right?

7️⃣ Hamburg vs Mainz: X

Let’s be honest: neither of these two teams will win the Bundesliga, nor will they qualify for a European competition. It’s a tough match to decipher, where anything could happen. I’m going with a draw — at least for a few minutes I’ll be sure I got the prediction right.

8️⃣ Angers vs Rennes: 1

From a technical standpoint, there shouldn’t be much of a contest, with the visitors being the natural favorites to win. But since I’ve put too few “home wins” on this betting slip, it’s time to make up for it — and I’m taking Angers to win. After all, unlike Totocalcio, here you don’t pay anything to play.
