Weekly CRICKET Review - CXii | 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup
Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,
You already know that I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what's happening within the Cricket community. And it's the 112th edition now.
As I discussed in the last few weeks, we conclude the Asia Cup 2025, with India becoming the champions by defeating Pakistan in the finals. And now we are back to the usuals. So, let's see what's going on!
2025 Women's Cricket World Cup
- Women's Cricket World Cup is going on from 30 September to 2 November, 2025, for the 13th time, in India and Sri Lanka. You can read the full details from here. This time, we will see a new champion, as South Africa and India have sealed their spots in the finals.

South Africa tour of Pakistan, 2025
It's a big series of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, 3 T20S from Oct 12 - Nov 08.
Test series was tied 1-1, and now in the perfect shape after two matches in the T20I series.
The first match was held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. South Africa batted first and showed a good overall performance. Reeza Hendricks and de Kock started well with a 44-run partnership in 4 overs, and Reeza scored 60 runs upfront. So, in 20 overs, SA scored 194/9.
Saim Ayub and Farhan started very slowly. They could score just 31 runs in 5 overs when the first wicket fell. And from there, wickets started to fall regularly without much from Pakistan. Nawaz scored 36 and Pakistan was all out for just 139 in 18 overs. Corbin Bosch took 4 wickets while George Linde took 3. South Africa won by 55 runs.
- And the second match was held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. And the star from SA was just awful. They lost Henriques in the second ball for a duck, and Pakistan's seamers just toyed with the batters. The first five wickets fell for just 49 runs, and they were all out for 110 runs. No one could cross the 30-run mark. Faheem Ashraf took 4 wickets, while Salman Mirza took three.

And Pakistan chased it down in style. After a while, Saim Ayub showed his talent, scoring 71 runs in 38 balls. They chased down the target in 13 overs with 9 overs remaining.
India tour of Australia, 2025
Well, India is in Australia for 5 T20S and 3 ODIs. And more excitingly, after many months, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returned to the national team. Well, as I said last week, Australia won the first two ODI matches, but India got a relief after winning the last one.
It was held at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. Australia batted first, and it was not the best effort. Renshaw scored a fifty, and the other batters got starts but couldn't hold them. So, Australia was all out for 236/10 in 46 overs. Harshit Rana took four wickets.
And the response from India was just awesome. Finally, Rohit and Virat partnered up and finished the match in style. Especially Rohit Sharma scored 121 runs, and Virat scored 74 runs. They had a 168-run partnership for the second wicket. India won by 9 wkts. Australia won the series 2-1. Rohit Sharma became the man of the series.
In this match, unfortunately, Shreyas Iyer was badly injured and admitted to the ICU while trying for a catch. Luckily, his condition is stable now.
- The T20I series started right away. Anyway, the first match was washed off. The second one was held at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne. India batted first, and it became terrible. Especially Hazlewood destroyed the top order with the help of Eliis and Bartlett. He is just so good over the years, across the formats, taking three wickets for just 13 runs in his four overs. India lost wickets one by one. Anyhow, Abhishek Sharma batted well as he is on another pitch. Despite his 68 off 37 balls and 35 runs from Rana, no one crossed double digits. India scored only 125/10.

It wasn't easy for Australia as well. Anyway, they did it with 4 wickets in hand.
England tour of New Zealand, 2025
- England is in New Zealand for 3 T20S and 3 ODIs. England won the only T20I match, as the other two got washed way. But New Zealand did a clean sweep in the ODI series.

The first ODI was held at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. England batted first and scored just 223-10 in 35 overs. It's all thanks to Harry Brook, who scored 135 runs in 101 balls with 11 sixes and 9 fours. They lost their first 6 wickets for just 56 runs. Brook's aggressive inning, and the help of 46 runs from Jamie Overton, England got that mark. New Zealand chased it down in just 36 overs with 4 wickets remaining. Daryl Mitchell and Bracewell scored fifties.
The second one was held at Seddon Park, Hamilton, in 36 overs. They were always trying to score runs quickly but cost it badly. Tickner took 4 wickets. Kiwis chased it down in 33 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Rachin and Mitchell scored fifties.
- In the third match at Sky Stadium, Wellington, it was 222/10 from England in 40 overs. Once again, Jamie Overton was the highest scorer with 68 runs. Tickner took 4 wickets again. It became a bit difficult until the end for the Kiwis as well. But they did it with just 2 wickets in hand in the 45th over. Daryl Mitchell became the player of the series.

West Indies tour of Bangladesh, 2025
- They had a series of 3 T20S and 3 ODIs from Oct 18 - Oct 31. Bangladesh won the ODI series pretty easily 2-1. But West Indies got the T20I series 3-0.
