Rural Life: Simplicity, Community, and Contentment
As of now, I am 30 years old, and no doubt I have spent most of my life in a rural area, but I also have experience of living in urban areas as well as in a metropolis. No doubt, the basic necessities of life remain the same everywhere, but the lifestyle goes through a significant change when you move from one area to another. Every area has its own significance depending upon its location and the influence it has due to modernisation and the scientific approach people adopt.
Still, I consider rural life to be the best as far as social life and community living are concerned. In villages, people know each other very well, and no matter how many differences they may have, they stand by each other in times of distress and hopelessness. People in villages are helpful, and so are people living in cities, but the basic difference lies in knowing each other. Agriculture still exists here. Neighbours spend time with each other, sitting together in a living room, enjoying tea, and sharing what they might be going through in their own lives. This is something that is lacking in urban areas. People hardly know their neighbours.
Knowing each other is more like a blessing, because it not only comes with support but also with having close acquaintances nearby, which is always a positive and motivating thing. People living in cities are more oriented towards earning their livelihood and accumulating more and more wealth to some extent. This trend has also started influencing people living in rural areas, but still, people here give more importance to maintaining good relations within society rather than caring too much about making more and more money, which keeps their lives simple instead of complicated.
The rush towards greater wealth has made life a little unstable in urban areas, but rural people can survive with basic facilities and still seem happy with them without much complaint. People in rural areas have actually set themselves in a modest way of living. They demand very little and do not care much about things that have a huge impact on people living in urban areas. For example, people in rural areas still survive on charcoal to keep themselves warm during the winter season, and it hardly matters to them if there is electricity or not, whereas such things would not be tolerated by people in cities.
The only thing that matters to rural people is their agricultural and horticultural produce, and if it is sufficient, they do not complain much and rely on it to survive throughout the year. In my opinion, having little to complain about makes life simple. I have seen people who do not have many belongings but still live a very satisfactory life according to their own standards because they are not very materialistic; they only care about surviving, no matter how.
Indeed, there are advantages and disadvantages to everything. Living in an urban area is always advantageous from a materialistic point of view, but my life is simple. Rural areas are no less than heaven for it.
Thank you for going through my post. Have a great time ahead.
