You're actually right, I don't understand how this platform works; the relationship between steem, steem dollars and steem power is very confusing. I thought that by holding the coin in a wallet for a while it might go up in value as the platform becomes more widespread, but this doesn't seem to be happening and in fact the coin price has a downward trend for 3 months.
