99% Is A Bitch; 100% Is A Breeze: Thought For The Day #50💭✍

in #steem5 years ago

'There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results. (Ken Blanchard)

In life the spoils of victory go to those who make a 100% commitment to the outcome, to those who have a "no matter what it takes" attitude. They give it their all; they put everything they have into getting their desired result - whether it be an Olympic Gold medal, the top sales award, a perfect dinner party, an A in microbiology, or their dream house.

What a simple concept this is - yet you'd be surprised how many people wake up everyday and fight with themselves over whether or not to keep their commitments, stick to their disciplines, or carry out their action plans.

It's like brushing your teeth before you to go bed. You always do it, no matter what. If you find yourself in bed and you have forgotten, you get out of bed and brush them. It doesn't matter how tired you are or how late it is. You just do it.

Whether your discipline it to read for an hour, exercise for 30 minutes, meditate or whatever else you need to do to achieve your goals - commit 100% to those daily disciplines that will get you there.

Why 100% Is So Important

This powerful 100% commitment also figures critically in other important areas - for instance, the workplace. Consider what a commitment to just 99.9% quality would mean in the following work situations. It would mean:

  • 16,000 lost letters per hour.
  • 20,000 incorrectly filled drug prescriptions every year.
  • Your heart failing to beat 32,000 times each year.

100% commit to excellence in everything you do.

Thank you for your post. I like reading your articles. Interest and commitment are important but I never thought one, the latter is more of a determinant to my success. But I’ve been interested in a lot of things and did nothing to pursue it. I’m committed to achieving my dreams and it is different. Thanks and I resteem your post. Nuff blessings

Give until it hurts and if it hurts to give more I am one of those who believes that when something fails it is because I have not given the best of myself. I prefer to act under the belief that I am primarily responsible for my results than thinking that the universe will one day decide to make me happy.
I redeem your post

That's a very powerful belief, that you are responsible and not the 'universe'.

you are right
Anyone who works hard and hard in the work he performs will have a positive outcome
Thank you for the article as brilliant as your habits

Hard work is of course important, if things came easy then they wouldn't be as sweet if we got them? Working smart is vitally important, also!

I know it’s hard to be 100%, especially with lots of distractions but man just gat to strive hard to get there.. Bacause at the end, it will surely yield good fruits

Yes. Distractions can easily crop up when we are not focused. That is why those who are highly focused as you say, yield good fruits!

You are right on the money! I love the Ken Blanchard quote and the examples of 99.9% vs 100%. It may not seem like a lot of difference, but is very apparent in those examples.

It is a person who makes a commitment to someone if he does commit to it, that is to be done by the result that it will be good or bad for him. It is no matter in good or bad results fact that he must fill the job and interest is that it can work when feel good in results only. Anyway resteem done.

When things get into a habit, everything would be a 100 % or more as long as we're still healthy.
If frailty comes along, there's no more regret if we do it 99% or less because we have our excuse.

@luppers i really love how you define and try to differentiate the difference between interest and commitment. Actually long ago, i thought the two are the same or rather works in hand i.e works together. Now i know some deep difference between them. I guess there are some times i am interested in something but not committed to it

That's great to see that you have uncovered that distinction for yourself!
