Been slacking a little with the documentation lately but don't worry I've been a busy little bee and will keep you updated more often going forward. Much nicer diving now when it's not freezing outside the only bad thing is that the food go bad faster but as long as you go out regularly there's no worries!

Dumpster diving

The practice of foraging in garbage that has been put out on the street in dumpsters, garbage cans, etc., for discarded items that may still be valuable, useful, or fixable.

Introducing Trashwiki, the collaborative world wide guide of creating value from trash! Here you will find plenty of trash-related articles: you can search by specific countries and cities to find the best places in your area!

Why do I Dumpster Dive?

Bring awareness on how much food is wasted with our current system
No costs enabling me to minimize my dependency on Fiat
Save the abundance of food that is wasted and share it
No need to power down my Steem Power
Great regular exercise and good karma

Thursdays Weekly Meet-ups:

We meet up on Thursdays in the middle of the city to share the food we've saved during the week. It's a great way to meet, connect and support each other. We meet between 6-7 pm at the same time as the decentralized farmers market that I've initiated!

I've got great plans for 2018 and beyond and intend to work hard to achieve it. The Steem blockchain is the perfect place to create positive change as it rewards individuals that contribute to the community and humanity at large. I am wholeheartedly dedicated to this platform and my intention is to create solutions to our current predicament and unite humankind once and for all

I regularly invite people over to share the abundance which I've been doing for many by now and nowadays I of course take the opportunity to introduce them to the Steem blockchain!^^

In your case the food was already packed and sold.
I read that the farmers themselves or corporations that buy directly from them eliminate the food to prevent prices from decline.
Capitalism at its finest.
The free market is so much efficient than the government due to enslaving the population and bribing the government that it can dump food.

Yes and farmers get enormous subsidies, taxpayers money, from the european union for instance, then so much is produced that the african market is flooded with produce while the farmers there can not sell their stuff for that low a price.
When boycot's happen like the resent one with russia, whole apple harvests were plowed under in fields.
Another example is that through regulation small farmers can not keep up with all the rules and go broke.

edit; It's a heavily subsidised and regulated market and lobbying by the government helps enormous, but everybody is lobbying by the government, every voter is a lobbyist in end effect, that wants to get money that is stolen from other people. Some are just more succesful than others, but all are greedy to get the money that others worked hard for, via government system.

Yes and farmers get enormous subsidies, taxpayers money, from the european union for instance, then so much is produced that the african market is flooded with produce while the farmers there can not sell their stuff for that low a price.

Did not know about it but it does not surprise me.
The EU may be trying to eradicate competition and become a monopoly.
A free market, like anarchy can not last.
It is a self destructing state.

OMG my Grandmother would hit the roof if she saw all that food go to waste she is the most economical person i know and despises todays throw-away society. Great post @reko upvoted, followed and resteemed.

Thank You @reko this is a great post for me as it has revealed a new and vibrant understanding of "Dumpster Diving" and not just the positive treasures that can be found but the social awareness aspect as well.
I must be honest and admit that the phrase "Dumpster Diving" I had attached negative images of homeless, addicts and 1/2 eaten garbage. Where your post truly shows a bounty that is being wasted. 🤗
I remember back in Australia at the end of special events in Warner Brothers (where I was entertaining) there was all this food that had to be thrown away due to regulations, while people were hungry on the streets. Mind you not that many on the Gold Coast like many other places in the world. I wanted to take what was left over and share to support groups but it was not allowed. Sad indeed.
I love your Farmers Market of freely sharing what groups of divers collect once or twice a week so you can experience the diversity and joys of others collections, and then what is left going to some help somewhere.
I'm eager to learn more from your posts and support a world where new all can have food and shelter as there is enough food produced to feed everyone and some social changes so that is more acceptable and possible is a good thing 🙂

thaks. there s indeed and think about all the food that's growing in nature and in our gardens...so much getting wasted but it shalll change...gonna work overtime for this cause!!! :D

Glad to hear it, I know we helped push for some community edible gardens in Washington where we were living. That is for anyone who wanted to harvest. Also Seattle changed its decorative plants to edible plants so anyone could eat the fruits and other foods that it provided.

Some great finds there! Upvoted :)

I can’t believe we throw this out in the garbage.... why not donate... very sad, but your post is awesome!!!

Keeping the eco-system alive!

Wow, you actually make all this? Good one, i like it

There is terrible wastage of food because of date stamping and misunderstanding of it. Good for you for preventing some of that wastage. That's incredible!

Finally new Free the Food!I've been waiting for a while. It's so nice to see people like you carrying about this food that would get wasted while there are so many hungry people out there.Great job keep it up brother. Thanks for your amazing activity.

Congrats for your achievements. Is been good having someone like you in this platform. Steem on.
