Staying Mentally Healthy is equally important and vital during Corona Pandemic
Corona pandemic, lockdown has taken a heavy toll not only on physical health but on mental health too.
We have been hearing preventative measures to be taken & from the authorities about how to stay physically healthy to avoid corona infection / spread such as Washing of Hands, Wearing masks , practicing social distance. However, managing mental health during this time is equally important and vital to your overall well-being.
Its not in our hand to control Corona pandemic but its in our hand to improve our mental health which is utmost important to beat stress, anxiety, depression, fear during these trying times and critical phase and uncertainty currently the whole world is going through.
There are some steps , given below, if we take right now will sure help improve mental health and can be helpful to people during these challenging time.
Exercise
Research has proved that Exercise - Physical activity is very important & vital component of good mental health. 20-25 minutes of exercise (stretching/skipping/walking/jogging on tradmill) at home (if going outside is restricted due to lockdown) has positive impact on your mental health apart from physical health. Nowdays, there are many free apps, videos are available on internet on Exercising inside home with little or no equipment. So you can have exercise session inside your home/living room or terrace.
Upbeat your mood
If you are feeling low or down , you can boost your mood by listening to music, interacting with your friends to whom you enjoy and feel happy, singing, dancing or you can read books also to boost your mood and avoid negative thoughts.
Restrict Your Exposure to news channels
This is very important as the news channels are continuously feeding all the negative news 24/7 pertaining to Corona Virus spread, death toll, increasing cases, all sort of negativity which we consume throughout the day resulting into stress, anxiety, depression. Staying informed and updated is good but too much of so called "breaking news" on TV news channels break you mentally and emotionally.
