Mousebird | Discover One Amazing Animal a Day 001
1️⃣ The mousebird is a bird whose appearance resembles that of a rodent, which is why it’s commonly called a “mousebird.” It is found only in sub-Saharan Africa.
2️⃣ As its name suggests, the mousebird looks somewhat like a mouse. These small birds are similar in size to sparrows, mainly gray or brown in color. Their feathers have a texture that resembles rodent fur, and they have a long tail. They move quickly, and their climbing actions look very mouse-like.
3️⃣ Mousebirds love living in groups and feed on flowers, buds, and fruits. They have a feathered crest and a short, stout bill. Their feet are zygodactyl, meaning the outer toe can swivel backward. With their long, sharp claws, they are excellent at clinging to branches and are often seen hanging upside down as they move around.
4️⃣ Birds of the mousebird order build nests with small twigs and line them with grass. They lay 2–4 eggs per clutch, and the chicks are precocial (relatively mature and mobile soon after birth).
The colors of mousebirds are really beautiful~~
