Have you ever been so hungry that you ignored your instincts and bought food you probably shouldn't have?
Well... That was me.
I had a long day ahead of me and was already seriously hungry. I was inside school waiting for the next lecture, I wasn't going home anytime soon, and cooking for myself wasn't an immediate option.
Then my friend suggested we buy beans and plantain from a roadside vendor.
I thought, Why not?
Students loved beans and plantain so I should definitely love it too. At least, that's what I believed before taking that first bite. 😭
The food came in a takeaway plate, and honestly, it looked okay from the outside.
So I gave it a chance.
Big mistake. 😩😩 The taste was nowhere near what I expected. I kept eating, hoping maybe the next bite would be better. And honestly, it wasn't. At first I thought it was because it was my first time eating roadside food and I was probably just getting used to how it taste until my friend who actually enjoys beans and plantain commented on how she disliked the taste.
At that point, I knew the problem wasn't simply that I wasn't in the mood for beans.
The food just wasn't good.
So, after giving it serious consideration, my final rating is... 2/10.
And I'm being generous. The only reason it got those two points is because, technically, it was food. 😂
This was actually my first time buying roadside beans, so maybe I simply picked the wrong vendor.
I'm not saying every roadside beans seller is bad. I've heard people talk about finding roadside food that tastes better than what they make at home.
Unfortunately, this wasn't one of those experiences. If anything, the meal reminded me that sometimes being hungry can make you make questionable decisions. Bad choices is not only when you make huge mistakes, infact this one is one if them, because I wasted money, and practically was scammed 😭. Next time, I'll probably just wait until I get home.
At least then I know exactly what I'm eating.
