What does the phrase “In the midst of crisis” mean to you? Share your understanding in your own words.

"In the midst of crisis" refers to being right at the heart of a challenging, uncertain, or overwhelming situations. It is not a time when problems are distant or already solved, but a moment when everything feels intense, confusing, and sometimes even frightening. It is the period when difficulties are happening right now, and you see required to face them whether you feel ready or not.

To me, this phrase paints a picture of standing in the middle of a storm. The wind is strong, the rain is falling heavily, and visibility is low. You cannot clearly see what lies ahead. In such moments, people often feel pressure, fear, or doubt. Decisions become harder to make , emotions run high, and the future may seems uncertain, it is a time when people are tested mentally, emotionally and sometimes even physically.

However, being in the midst of crisis is not only about struggles or pain. It is also a moment that reveals strength and character. When everything is going smoothly, it is easy to feel confident and in control. But when challenges arise, that is when true resilience shows. People learn how to adapt, how to Stay calm under pressure, and how to find solution even when the situation looks difficult.

When in the midst of crisis, what do you usually do, like the first thing you do? How do you handle it? (It can be personal, academic, financial, or emotional.)

When I'm in the midst of crisis, the very first thing I do is pause, no panic, not react immediately, just pause. That short moment helps me stop my emotions from taking full control. In situations of stress, fear or confusion, our first instinct is often to react quickly, but that can lead to poor decisions. So I take a deep breath and try to calm my mind before doing anything else.

After that, I try to understand the situation clearly. I asked myself what exactly is happening? What is the real problem here! Sometimes, what feels like a big crisis is actually a mix of smaller issues or even just overwhelming. Breaking it down helps me see things more realistically Instead of exaggerating the situation in my head.

Next thing, I focus on what I can control. In any crisis, whether it's personal, academic, financial, or emotional where there are always things outside my control. Worrying about those only increases stress. So I shift my attention to the things I can do. For example in accedemis, I might start with organising my task. If it is financial, I look at my expenses and possible solutions.

Do you believe crises make people stronger or weaker? Explain your view.

I believe crises can make people both stronger and weaker depending on how they respond to the situation and the kind of support they have around them. On the other hand, crises often make people stronger. When someone goes through a difficult period like losing a job, facing financial hardship, or dealing with personal lost they are forced to adapt. They learn new skills, develop resilience and discover their inner strength they even know they had.

In my view, a crisis itself is neutral, it Is neither good nor bad. What truly matters is how a person responds to it and the environment around them. With the right mindset support, and determination, crises can become an opportunity for growth, but without these, they can leave lasting negative effects. So crises don't automatically make people stronger or weaker they reveal who we are and challenge us to either rise or fall.

What lesson(s) did you learn from that experience, and how has it shaped you today?

One major lesson I learned is that panic makes things worse, but calm thinking creates solutions. In the past, I used to react emotionally when facing challenges, and it often led to confusion and poor decisions but that experience taught me that staying calm even when everything feels out of control is real.

Another important lesson is that not everything is within my control, that's okay. I learned to focus my energy on what I can change instead of stressing over what I can't. This mindset has helped me reduce anxiety and become more practical in difficult situations. I also learnt the value of patience and taking things one step at a time. I therefore invite @dhizy, @bossj23 and @peacemike to participate in the contest.
