SLC-S29/W3-“Thinking and Ideas!| Seeing Problems Differently!”
There are a lot of problems in my country which the one of which affects me the most is the one that I have written about.
Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving it.
Unemployment
Unemployment is an everyday problem in my country that occurs when people who are willing and able to work cannot find a job. The problem of unemployment affects individuals and families by reducing their income, leading to financial stress, decreased living standards, and even mental health challenges.
Steps in solving unemployment:
Skill Development and Education: I will provide training programs and educational opportunities to help people acquire skills that are in demand in the job market.
Encouraging Entrepreneurship: I will support small businesses and startups through funding, mentorship, and resources so they can create new jobs.
Government Policies: I will create policies that promote job creation, such as infrastructure projects, tax incentives for companies, and investment in various sectors.
Internship and Apprenticeship Programs: I will offer practical work experiences for young people and those entering the job market.
Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?
Unemployment still exists despite many people noticing it because of a lot of reasons like economic downturns, technological changes that make some jobs obsolete, lack of skills among job seekers, or uneven economic development.
Most of the time, there is a mismatch between the skills people have acquired and the skills that are needed for employment. Like in the case of Nigeria, I would say that the issue of unemployment still exists because of corruption and political instability.
In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?
Before I thought unemployment was a result of laziness ot lack of effort until I graduated from school and began looking for a job. It is mostly caused by structural issues in the economy, such as economic recession, automation, or lack of investment, which are beyond the control of individuals. This misunderstanding can unfairly blame job seekers rather than addressing the root causes of unemployment.
If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?
If I could change one mindset on this issue, it would be to promote the mindset that continues learning and adaptability are essential for employment today. This mindset will encourage people to develop video skills as an ongoing process that can help them to stay relevant in a changing job market.

Hola, @cjnwenyi.
Unemployment is a big problem in my country which is causing a lot of harm to the youths. I appreciate your nice comments. Thanks
