INTRODUCTION

Greetings beautiful members of steem4nigeria, I hope everyone is doing well. First of all, let me introduce myself, I'm @destinedhanik. We are drawing close to the end of 2025 and this year has taught me a lot, both negative and positive and I'm here to talk about it.

Briefly tell us how your 2025 has been so far

My 2025 has been good so far tho it could have been better. As we all know, things have gotten more expensive but people are coping and what has made my 2025 easier is the fact that I've had parents who have stood by me all through the year. Though financially, I'm still not in a good place as the year is about to end, but I've gained more experience especially in places I never really thought of.

Would you say the year was worth it? Tell us.

Yes, my 2025 was worth it because I was able to get a better job and I was able to move away from home. Leaving alone, when I look back is really worth it. Abd if I don't appreciate anything this year, I appreciate God for making's me move away from home.

Share your most remarkable day in 2025 with us either positive or negative.

My most remarkable day in 2025 was when I got a teaching job in a better school early this year. Even though it was still in the same field or teaching in a private school, but this school is amongst the top private schools in my state. And I didn't even believe I would be taken, not that I was looking down on myself but I just met someone on Facebook who told me they needed teachers and I should go for the interview. I went for the interview and I got the job, I was also given my appointment later that day. This happened on January. It was my turn around for the new year.

The day for interview, I was given identity card with the tag, visitor.

When I resumed at my new place of work on Monday

One of the reasons I was very happy about my new work was the pay and the accommodation that came with it at a very cheap rate. It was a turn around period for me. But there are always positive and negative aspects of life.

At my former workplace

• My story would be incomplete without me sharing a very good and long lasting experience I have had in my present workplace. All my life, I had never farmer before because I never had the opportunity, but when I came here, teachers were given portions of land to farm tho it wasn't compulsory. And I decided to use that opportunity to learn. Even though it was my first time but it was a success. I harvested almost 4 litres of groundnut, and from time to time, I have been harvesting potatoes. I had also harvested maize though the maize was greatly attacked by pests. In all, I'm grateful for the experience.

I also had a negative experience this year that affected me and it is still affecting me. First, I had an employment that pays bigger and better than my current place. But due to the condition which I signed in my present place of work, I can't move to another place for now until further notice. One of the conditions was that I can't leave until a particular period of time. Another was that if I'm to leave, I have to pay back a particular sum of money.

Another experience that has made me sad this year though some may think it is nothing but means a lot to me was the fact that someone stole my 16gb memory card from my phone which contained a lot like my convocation pictures, my certificates and my nysc pictures just to mention few important things it contained. This experience has really left a sour taste in my mouth.

What was/were your lesson[s] about the day you have shared above?

• For the day I got my new job, I have learnt that I should never conclude on myself rather I should always try because it might turn out positive. Few days before that day, I was working in a school that paid me not even up to half of minimum wage but the following week, I got a better job when I didn't even prepare for it.

• Secondly, from the other place that paid higher than my present place, I have learnt that desperation should not make me accept whatever terms and conditions I'm given, rather I should read through it, ask questions and possibly decline because accepting all terms and conditions, even if it doesn't favour me might affect me in future.

And even if the case is taken to court, I might lose as I used my hands to sign it.

• And for the last situation I shared, I have learnt to look on the brighter side of things. The truth is, they might have stolen my phone which they did not buy rather they removed my memory card, so I'm thankful that I still have my phone and it's easier to replace memory card than phone, but I have to be careful.

Is there anything you would have changed about that day or was it just alright? Tell us.

• For my first experience, I can't really say I would have loved to change that day though I wish I would have had to read through the conditions meticulously and ask questions where needed, and possibly, take a walk if necessary, but I'm thankful for the experience tho.

• For my second experience, when expectations aren't met or you have hope on something and it is dashed, the disappointment is deep.
This was how I felt few weeks ago when I realized that I was going to lose a job with a higher pay because of conditions I agreed to on my current place. The only thing I would have loved to change is my agreement to the conditions.

• Finally, we don't know what will happen in our everyday lives. If I knew, maybe, I wouldn't charge my phone and leave for someone to come abd tamper with my memory card in the process which is currently affecting me. But in all, I thank God for everything because He knows things before they happen.
