Have you ever sit down one evening, maybe after NEPA have taken light, and you are fanning yourself with hand, then suddenly one thought just flash on your mind like a torchlight? That kind of thought can make anyone to pause, look the ceiling, and ask yourself:

“What will happen if my worst fear do comes true.....?”

However fear really have power. And sometimes it control how we move, how we plan, even how we pray. Fear is just hiding inside our shadow, it always follow us to anywhere we go. And truth be told, everybody have one or two things that shake their heart and make them to fear.

Five Things I Feared Most and Why

1000140442.jpg

  • Fear of Sudden Death of Loved Ones:- This one is the top on my list. We always hear story everyday—accident for road, sickness that there's no money to treat, or problem that come from nowhere which we didn't expect. The thought that a person that i love can just disappear without warning always pain me.

  • Fear of Poverty:- Nobody want to suffer. Poverty can make life very hard, it can make a person to lose respect, and it can limit ones dreams. So I do fear poverty because I have seen what it can do to families—children that can't go to school, parents that always beg for food, etc.

  • Fear of Failure:- As hustler which I am, failure always stand like one big mountain in the way. So I do fear that after all the effort, all the sleepless nights, things can still collapse.

  • Fear of Betrayal by a Close Friend:- Trust is big thing though. If a person that I call brother or sister stab me on the back, the pain will be different. I do fear betrayal because it shakes confidence, and it make one to doubt everybody.

  • Fear of sickness that doesn't have cure:- Let's imagine how it will fill like somebody to have sickness and even money can't buy the cure to the sickness. I do fear this kind of sickness because I know that health is wealth, and without it, everything will scatter.

Did Any of These Things Ever Happen to Me?

Yes, some have happen:

  • I have lose loved ones suddenly. The pain wasn't small. It was a moment that makes me to cry much, and it reminded me that life doesn't have guarantee. But I'll surely see them again in the new world.

  • Poverty? I have taste it small. I can remember one period while I was schoolliing I will be trekking long distance because transport money wasn't there. I will be sweating under the hot sun, and I'll be asking myself if this how life will be forever.

  • Failure? I have fail exam before. The kind shame that follow failure is really heavy, but it's also a lesson too.

  • Betrayal? Yes, one of my close friend that I trust with my secret use it against me. That day I learn that not everybody that smile with you is wishing you well.

  • Sickness? I have never face and incurable sickness before, but I have once been had health scare that makes me to realize that life is fragile.

So yes, some of my fears have happen, and the experience I had shape how I see life today.

My Stand on the Saying: “The Things You Fear Most Will Eventually Happen”

1000140439.jpg

This saying is very deep. Some people believe that fear can attract the things that you are running from. Like magnet, if you think it too much, it will manifest. But for me, I have a mixed stand about this:

  • Part One: Therefore,If i just dwell too much on fear, then it can control my mind and actions. Let's say for example, if I always fear failure too much, that would make me not to try new things, and that alone is a failure itself.

  • Part Two: Not every fear will happen. Some fears is a warning, it's a reminder for me to prepare well. For example if I do fear poverty, this can help to push me to hustle harder. If i do fear sickness, it can make me to take care of my health.

👉🏾 So my stand is that : fear is a double-edged sword. So however ,if you just allow it, it can destroy you totally. But if you use it as a motivation, it will guide you. The key is to balance. We shouldn't allow fear to control our destiny, instead let it be a reminder for us to be serious in life.

My Conclusion

So to round it up, fear is part of human life. We all have it, but how we handle it is the real matter. Some fears can happen, some won't happen. But whether it happen or not, the lesson is that we must live boldly, prepare wisely, and trust God for the rest.
