Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 112: My favorite fruit

in Steem4Nigerialast month

Hello, my fellow Steemians, Today I will be writing about my favorite fruit.
What really are fruits, you might wonder?
Fruit can be said to be the ripened openings of a flowering plant. They are produced from a flowering tree, and these fruits can be either hard or soft. There are many varieties of fruits in the world today, and different people have their different choices of fruits for the varieties available in the world today. Fruits can be said to be

Which Fruit Is Your Favorite, and Why?

I love many fruits in my locality, but one out of these stands out as my favorite. What is it, you might ask? Banana. Banana is my favorite fruit for many reasons. One of the first reasons is that it is easy to eat wherever you may be. Be you in or outside your home. It does not require washing or cracking or peeling with a knife as most fruits do. Another reason I love bananas is because they have a great taste. When I bite it, I feel a sense of satisfaction as I swallow each morsel of the fruit.

Another reason is that banana goes with a variety of other foods like groundnut, garri, bread, and others. It can be used in fruit salads with other fruits like watermelon, oranges, pawpaw (papaya), and cucumber, just to list a few common ones. This fruit salad can then be complemented with groundnut and evaporated milk.

Another reason I love bananas is because whether ripe or unripe, they are edible. The ripe one is usually eaten as stated above, but the unripe banana can be prepared as a local dish called banana porridge, locally called Oto mboro in AkwaIbom State, Nigeria.
This meal is always very delicious when the appropriate ingredients are put in their appropriate portions.
Below is a photo of how the meal looks before and after preparation.

How Much Is Your Favorite Fruit?

Like any other fruit, a banana's price varies depending on the size and the yield of its bunch. Sometimes the price depends on seasons too. Let us take a sample from a banana sample from my yard

Looking at its size from the tree, this banana can be sold at about ₦10,000, which is equivalent to $6.96 from the current currency value. Converting that to Steem coin is approximately 54.3 STEEM. This is the value in STEEM coin.

What are the health benefits of your favorite fruit?

There are always many health benefits attached to fruits.

  1. As for bananas, they contain natural sugar. Unlike the processed sugar in factories that can cause damage to our health, bananas contain natural sugar, hence the reason they are usually sweet and sugary in taste.
  2. Bananas are high in fiber and help in preventing constipation.
  3. Bananas also serve as a quick source of energy since they are rich in carbohydrates. This helps me keep fit as an athlete.
  4. It also contains vitamin C, which is good for the immune system.
These are just a few health benefits of eating bananas.
How often do you eat it? Is it a seasonal fruit?

I eat bananas every week, at least 4 pieces every day. This helps me to keep fit with my football training and also gives me energy to begin my day. A day without a banana is like staying thirsty without drinking water. I just love the fruit. To make it more appetizing, I add it to my meals for each day. Rice and my beans are the most frequent meal I consume bananas with.

Conclusion

The banana is one of the greatest fruits that humanity has. It can reproduce on its own and sometimes does not need nurturing. Plant one tree at your home and watch it yield and multiply its trees. So, whether in a fruit salad, a smoothie, or as a meal, banana always puts a smile on my face. It is true to say it is my daily dose of happiness.

he potassium and carbs stop muscle cramps and that helps stamina, so your preserved energy isn’t wasted. I find it interesting that you combine bananas with beans and rice. That provides energy, protein, and fiber in good proportions. Keep it up! This is positive dietary behavior.

This is a beautiful piece. Though my favorite is watermelon, banana is a another dose of happiness. I eat it often too.
