My Neighborhood Watch #136 - Reporting Events Around Us

in Steem4Nigeria5 days ago (edited)

A new week, a new month, a new contest in the spirit of consistency of @xkool24, whose contest encourages us to pay attention to our environment. Today I was to report my first time visiting the famous Ibom plaza after its renovation during Christmas.

On Saturday morning, I went to places since there were no restrictions on movement in the nationwide sanitation system. I was fortunate to visit the Ibom Plaza in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The place is surely beautiful.

The renovation was a restoration of the main purpose of one of our legends, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah. When the plaza was opened, although I was very young, the place was so popular that all the villages in all the 31 local governments of Akwa Ibom State had the picture of the plaza even without visiting. It was an imagination that becomes real anytime you visit.

The Ambience

Those who migrated to Uyo, will come back home to narrate the stories of the plaza, the beautiful things, and others. At the plaza, there's a big screen to watch Nigerian matches, and other sites for tourism.

When I came to Uyo, the stories were real in past glory, the big screen not working, the serenity of the place becoming extremely busy with cluster businesses, leaving the plaza to be a den of thieves as population kept increasing as many believe it's here businesses thrive.

To cut it short, the new picture of the plaza brought back the original intention, no more clustering for businesses, population reduced by 80%, and one can work freely without being afraid because there will be no hiding place.

Less populated compared
Although I didn't go, all the Nigerian matches in the last Afcon were watched there. I must appreciate the government of Akwa Ibom State for reducing theft in the plaza to its minimum.

It was necessary to restore the plaza because:

  1. Whenever someone is coming to Uyo, the popular place to drop off and pick up or locate your next route is the plaza.
  2. The plaza is at the center, navigating all the major routes in the city - like Aka Road, Abak Road, Ikot Ekpene Road, Oron and Nwaniba Roads, Wellington Bassey Way (Barracks) Road.
  3. It is not easy to miss your way if you have reached the plaza from any direction you are coming into Uyo from.
  4. It is the waiting point and the glory of the city of Uyo.
  5. It is a tourist attraction place

I have a few pictures here to show us today, until I go for a real tour to get us all the information.

Thank you @xkool24, @steemaNigerian, the contest is good, please continue.

I invite @mayjay @nsisong2022 @etette to participate in this amazing contest.
