THIEF REMOVING ZINC FROM OLD BUILDING

Season's greetings to all my fellow Steemians. I must appreciate the effort of @xkool24 for being consistent on this “my neighborhood watch contest”. This is 129 weeks and still counting, which I started participating in at week 128 coming out 3rd.

My post for this week's neighbourhood watch left me as a security guard in my neighbourhood. In the cool morning while I was going out, the environment was very calm, predicting that nobody should be around. I saw a young man on the roof of a house whose only fence divided us. He was removing the zinc with his bare hands, leaving the building vulnerable to the rainy season that is coming. Meanwhile, I noticed a few weeks ago that the roof was removed without rebooting. Little did I know that someone was stealing the zinc and selling it as scraps to those buying condemned iron and metal in Uyo.

I took the shot without his notice from afar; on reporting to people around, they began to look for him while I left for my business.

Already the damage is done, and the house, although nobody is living there, is exposed to repeated wetting and drying, which will definitely affect the old building in the near future.

The submission is that we should watch our neighbourhood; it's part of humanitarian obligations. Those in that compound might have been suspecting each other each time they came back from work to notice missing items or something worse than damaging a house in the name of looking for scraps.

We have a number of them here in Akwa Ibom State going around people's compounds in search of condemned irons, but they use the opportunity to steal valuables. I heard a story about a house where one of them put down soup from a fire, emptied the pot on the ground and left it with the pot as scrap. With these people nothing is safe. They pick up everything they see, not minding their values and usability. Therefore, this contest is a daily reminder that we must watch our neighbourhood.

WATCHING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD IS MORE THAN A CONTEST ON STEEMIT BUT OUR ABOUNDING RESPONSIBILITY
