Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week124: What I Think About The Book Reading Culture
Shot from Samsung A05 - Reviving my reading Culture
This is one of the best contests, very timely to encourage the reading culture that is dying. With the emergence of AI, many have thrown the reading culture overboard, trusting that what you are spending hours looking for in a book, AI can give you in a matter of seconds. It could be true but AI does not undermine reading, after all not every reputable environment appreciates AI.
Do you believe that Books contain information that can change your life? If yes or no, back up your answer with valid points
Yes! I believe. Every book you pick up to read 📚 did not fall from the blue, people wrote it themselves. Writing a book is harder than reading itself. Book writing involves the experiences, burdens, and problems that need to be solved by the writer or researcher. Every piece of information in a particular book is educative, transforming, motivating, and inspiring.
Whatever you are going through, others have gone through it too. They may not be close but their books can give you succor and comfort your heart. The day I read a piece of testimony of a girl who died for 11 hours and her experiences on the other side of the world, when she finally returned to life, she had to write about all her encounters. Immediately after I read that book my lifestyle was forced to change. I deleted every movie, song, photo that were tempting my soul to sin and left my phone with only faith-based music, videos, photos, etc. I am a testimony of “book change man”.
Academically, we go to school, the books we are exposed to broaden our thinking faculty and help us to learn, unlearn, relearn, and become different from others who are or may not be privileged to the Four walls of education.
Have you ever succeeded in completely reading a book you picked up at any point in your life... If yes, what are some of the lessons learnt, if no, what was your challenge
Yes! Recently, I have read the heart of man. This book is a physical object with a spiritual interpretation. It describes the heart of man, the character and behavioral pattern of a man connecting to what we see every day.
LESSONS
- The book warns ⚠️ against pride, describing that a man full of pride has the spirit of a peacock 🦚 inside of him and must be dealt with, pride goes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18).
- I will not mention all, but as in 1 above, the writer made it simple to believe that every sin a man commits has a spiritual entity that needs to be bound for total freedom. A gluttony takes the spirit of a pig, a sluggard has a tortoise 🐢 lifestyle, for immorality, the spirit of a dog is in that man's heart, living a deceitful life is connected to a snake kind of spirit.
- The book shows how the heart could be cleansed from all this and live a free life by accepting Jesus as LORD and Saviour. The writer opines that “once a man is born again, the Holy Spirit will take over the heart of man, sending out other spirits as mentioned in 1 and 2 above.
- At some point in the book, the writer touched on the aspect of a man falling back to sin after repentance, the consequences but ended by encouraging believers to make their body (heart) the temple of God else it becomes the workshop of Satan.
If you are allowed to recommend a book(s) that has blessed or benefited you what book would that be?
I have read many books, but for spiritual work, I will recommend “The Heart of Man”, “Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren. Purpose Driven Life will shape your Purpose and dream in life.
For financial education, read the “50 Common Mistakes of Money. The book is small but very rich for building a financial ladder.
I will say that this contest has done something special in me. I am very intentional with my reading culture going forward.
